How to prove ls2

How do you double check an engine is an ls2? Looking at an ls2 that a guy has and just want to double check that it actually is an ls2. Thanks

Re: How to prove ls2

The block should be aluminam and stamped 6.0 on the cylinders on the front and rear of block. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/genera...g-numbers.html This may also help.

To see if it sticks to the block? You'll know if it's iron or aluminum just by looking at it. The iron ones get surface rust on them pretty fast. Even still, the block itself will look different from the cast iron to the cast aluminim. The iron will be a lot darker than the aluminum will be and will more than likely be painted wher as an aluminum one won't be, unless the PO painted it.
