Torque capacity of 3 speeds?

What's the horsepower/torque rating of the mid 50s closed driveline 3 speeds? Just curious if anyone's put one behind a low powered v8 like a 283 or 305 or something.

Re: Torque capacity of 3 speeds?

Just not a good idea. The are not up to the torque load and you are gonna want to bang the gears behind the V8. Find a later three speed and 68-70 12 bolt and have some fun. Jay
