Peep mirrors hard to see with?
Can't decide whether door mounted mirrors or peeps are better and never had peeps. Anyone with these have likes / dislikes?

Re: Peep mirrors hard to see with?
They are a little hard to see out of. What year truck? There are some nice street rod style that work well. I used the peeps on a 53 and the pass side wouldn't turn in very far, I got a good view of the side of the road.
Somthing like this might work good for you. I have these on my 47. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-8218G/ Last edited by PDW HOTRODS; 01-03-2011 at 10:45 PM. |

Re: Peep mirrors hard to see with?
Never been a fan of peeps, they look fine but I don't like the way they fit.
PDW, coincidentally I have just fitted a pair of these mirrors to my '50. I got mine from Southern Rods in SC. My passenger side mirror adjustment is just a tad short for perfect vision. Where did you mount yours on the '47? Last edited by BigJock; 01-04-2011 at 02:11 AM. Reason: still can't post a dang picture!!! |

Re: Peep mirrors hard to see with?
They are pretty much useless honestly. I didn't have mirrors on my blazer since the PO welded the mounting holes shut and tossed the big ugly originals. Since I need to have mirrors to be legal I just went out today and bought some square peep mirrors. Can't see out of the drivers side except its good for backing up lol Good view of truck and the ground. Pass side is OK though due to the angle.
Mine are more just to pass the cops without getting into trouble vs actually being useful. If you really need mirrors to drive your vehicles, then I'd suggest against peep mirrors. If you can drive without mirrors and not hit anybody, then go for it lol |

Re: Peep mirrors hard to see with?
I've had them on the truck and on the 51 Mercury I had and one more vote for the concept that they suck. They look cool and period correct but most won't stay adjusted, vibrate at any speed and are hard to actually use as rear view mirrors.
I had 73----------- Chev pickup sport mirrors on the truck for a long time and liked them but am looking at the older Corvette mirrors at the moment as something that comes close to looking right but has a bit of style to it. Or the round sporty car mirrors on a stalk that actually bolts though the sheet metal. |

Nice truck, the mirrors are in a similar position to mine, the nuts were a b*tch to get on on account of the front glass channel!
