66 K20 power steering

Hi I was wondering if anyone has done a power steering conversion on a 4x4 truck. I have seen one done on here for a 2 wheel drive. I think the box mounts the same I just need the info on the drag link for the steering. I have a 90 gmc 4x4 suburban that I can steal parts from so any info will be great.

Re: 66 K20 power steering

I've sold several of my steerong box adapter plates to guys installing power steering on 4wd's. Are you keeping the '66 front differential, or switching to the '90 differential?

Re: 66 K20 power steering

Yes I am keeping my original 66 front end. I figured the steering box would mount the same my question is can I use the newer burban drag link since the original is clocked different and not adjustable. I saw some where that some one had done this swap and told what year steering parts would work for a direct swap in. Like part of the drag link was s10 and the rest was k10 but I can't find the info again. I guess my question is more about the drag link. Any help is great and so far everyone has been real helpfull. Thank You

Re: 66 K20 power steering

I have a '69 K20 running gear that has power steering and a closed knuckle front diff. I'm thinking that the steering arm on the knuckle should be the same as on your '66. I don't have a pic of that right now. I'll try and get one tomorrow when I'm at the shop.

Re: 66 K20 power steering

I have a 62 K10 I'm looking to do the same thing with. If anyone knows of an off the shelf steering link (or other solution) that works - that'd sure make it easier. I was figuring I'd have to fabricate one, or at least modify the current one to rotate the fitting 90 degrees.
