I don't know anytime anyone can put old tin back on the road, i am usually all for it. But there has been a few cars i have owned that my conscience would not allow me to modify to drastically like a 63 splitwindow vette.

There are few things I enjoy more than seeing any 1960's vette (especially 63 split windows) with the wheel opeings cut and flared, big and littles, a blower sticking through the hood and 6 tailights.

It can all be taken back to stock, no harm, no foul... but the purists go ape$hit.

Again, if it is your car do what you want. As they say at thunder road "Rules are there ain't no rules".

it used to bother me alot when i was into VW's to see a small window or even a split window chopped into a baha bug. i am not a ford guy but i was at a del mar car show an a guy had a pristine 57 t bird and he put a 350 chevy init

I like original body and interior. The body has to been in good shape (minimal rust). Lowering upgrading or changing the engine doesn't bother me.

I don't like when people do soon to be dated body mods like shaving door handles.

x 12 on hot rodder! the guys at m14 firing line don't talk to me anymore since they found out i took a korean era garand & shortened it & modded the receiver to take m14 box mags. the ww2 guys screamed when they found out i was putting a 5.9 cummins in my half track and the jeep nazis said everytime some one modifies a jeep God kills a puppy when i changed my m38 to 12 volts. so what? get a life. i like to see original stuff too, but our trucks are not dual quad four speed 409 impalas that belong in a museum. like was said earlier, if we can't drive them like we need out on the road what good are they?

You guys may not like this but I put a ford 302 with the transmission from a granada. I used the floor shifter from a riviera. Did it for a friend, sorry it was a budget swap. Had the granada and he needed a truck. I was told that it was an abomination. This was years ago.

andyh1956- why is a dual quad impala more museum worthy than a simple work truck? I never new a guy who made his living in a 409 impala.

because there were a helluva alot work trucks built then 409 dual quad impalas lol

but that doesnt mean they should be excluded either. just theirs 1000x as many trucks. and they dont all need to be originals either.

personally whats wrong with liking somthin original my dad always said the thing you like best is the thing you have to do nothing to make it better i think my 67 looks good from the factory i dont have to shave the firewall or drop it on its nuts to like my truck some things are good left alone.... not trying to dog anyone i am just giving my 2 cents how ever there are cool customs that can be done to our trucks....

I guess I'm an originalist. I converted Snob, no. Nut job? Yes...at times; but hey, those who claim that they are not a bit nuts at times are plain whackos or liars. As far as what another does to his/her truck, it doesn't bother me one bit. All that I care about is that you keep another truck on the road and have a blast doing it.
