Re: Trucks with 2 batteries, pics please

Yeah the reason I want to do the second battery is because when I finally put the music in my problem isnt goimg to get any better. Im starting to think I might of wired the compressors wrong. I would also like to see how everyone mounted their batteries. More details and pics of the mounts if possible

I know your original question was for pics and not opinions
I'll see if I can dig up some old pics if I have any.

Sure you can. Alot of them are running AGM batteries now. Hydroholics is using Kinetiks. Another friend of mine is running Odessy (or however you spell it) in his truck that's juiced. Lead Acid has basically 0 advantages over a properly constructed AGM battery. The only advantage I can think of off hand is cost.

Also, just an FYI. Stinger and Kinetik, are made by the same company, just relabeled and shipped out...

Re: Trucks with 2 batteries, pics please

I'm a huge XS Power fan. I've got a D3400 under the hood, and as soon as I find a driver's side battery tray I'll be adding a second one under the hood. 2 D3400's with 2 140 amp alternators should be enough to supply my audio needs.

pair of Rockford Fosgate silver-faced T1000's and a Punch 450.4 and soon a T300.2, too.

I had major voltage drops last time I had it all running.

Re: Trucks with 2 batteries, pics please

What is the dislike of the Optimas???

I was running an Interstate that they claim to be sealed in my 4x4 sub,but it could not take the pounding on the trails and it would leak on me.

I got a Orbital/Exide(just like the Optima) from Napa that was 50 bucks cheeper than the Optima and never had a problem and it 8yrs old and still good.

Then I needed one for my 76 C-10 but the Orbitals are now 220 bucks so I got the Optima. The first one went bad in 2 months but they gave me new one for free and 4yr later no problems.

I know if you run them dead that you need to charge them with a low amp charger and one that has an automatic shut off like a Battery Tender.

Who else makes a good sealed gell battery that wont leak??????

Re: Trucks with 2 batteries, pics please

Just get a real alternator.

This is my new 12 volt setup on my ex-military M1010. 200+ amps baby! Size of a small volkwagon. LOL

Oh, I have had very bad luck with Optima, both red and yellow tops over the years. In all 5 cases, they have ended up with a bad cell. Odyssey's are one of the best but are $$$. The Sears Platium IS made by Odyessey, same specs but about half the price and an awesome warranty. That is what I have been going with and zero problems over the last 2+ years.

Forgot to add, have owned 2 Optima red tops. Both have a hard time keeping a charge if they sit for any amount of time at all.

Back to the original reason I started the thread, can I see some pictures of how the original battery bracket on the drivers side looks?

Re: Trucks with 2 batteries, pics please

Staggered I didn't have time to pull up some old pics last night but take a look at Dennis' setup here on the board http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...345612&page=92
AceX, if we really want to get technical a lot of batteries out there are all manufactured in the same plants and relabeled on the final line. The same is true w/amps and subs and green peas and carrots but I do agree that an AGM battery is Great but having to charge it back up if it gets low on a less than 2Amp charge or buying a $$$ charger to charge it back up faster is crazy to me. Just my 2¢
