Re: '82 Shortbed 6.0 project
I used some dupli color high temp engine paint, its aluminum color and it looks very nice. If you look in my blazer build thread thats what I used to paint my intake with.

Re: '82 Shortbed 6.0 project
Mom got a few pics while i was workin last weekend.
entire front end is removed for sandblasting and painting. front clip and bed will come off soon. old 350 is out and the 6.0 will be going in soon as i can afford all new front suspension/cab mounting rubber and lowering spindles. but i will get more pics after the bay is sanded an painted. ive got to get a passenger side wheel well, damn rust from the battery. luckily thats the only rust i have found tho. thank God.

Re: '82 Shortbed 6.0 project
its an 8 lug axle. im thinkin its gonna be easier to replace the LCA with a 3/4 ton one, since i will be ordering new spindles and everything soon regardless. and i have the bigger brakes so i think i can just get the 8 lug disks an my caliper still work.
and also if anyone needs a 10 bolt lemme know! its FULLY rebuilt, 0 miles on it. all new seals, bearings and 'superior' ring and pinion (3.73's)

Re: '82 Shortbed 6.0 project
I actually have a nice grill from an 82 I used to have. It is on my 85 right now but I am swapping to the 73 front end. It is an aftermarket chrome one that I painted inside the little rectangles satin black. It looks good. I can't post pics over here in afghanistan but you should be able to see my album. If not look up softballnrd27 on photobucket. You can see what they will turn out like.

Re: '82 Shortbed 6.0 project
got the front clip off, this pic sucks but ill get better ones after its cleaned and painted. got a little cleaning done and its already a 100% difference. VERY minimal rust on this truck. does look like there was a minor accident on the driver side tho judging from the bent front clip mount and some other things. but the frame seems to be fine apart from a few crap job holes drilled in it.
just gotta get some new rubber parts an itll be goin back together with the motor!

Re: '82 Shortbed 6.0 project
Just found your thread. I grew up in Tyler and still have family there. I am working on an 82 with my son. We plan to do the same swap. Did you get the frame cleaned? I have used Easy Off oven cleaner (yellow can) with great results. It will take off grease, dirt and some paint!
Keep up the work, I know it's hard to do while in school! Posted via Mobile Device
