Limiting Straps

Does anyone ever use limiting straps? I have firestone 9000 bags and a tri 4 link in the back and all the diff weight is on the bags when the truck is lifted by the frame. This must not be good for them?

Re: Limiting Straps

Dont have a panhard bar just triangulated 4 link and the shocks extend about an inch more than the bags.

I would just find a shorter shock and use it as the limiting factor.
(or raise the shock mount on what you have now)
It can't be good on those F9000's.

Re: Limiting Straps

Was just doing some thinking on this and remembered I wanted a little more lift from the bags so if I put a 2 inch spacer under the bag it should solve two problems.

Re: Limiting Straps

I dont see any bumpstops and it doesnt look like your truck lays on the ground...so are you bottoming out the bag on down travel?

f9000s are very touchy to over extending and collapsing. I always use a bumpstop or the ground to limit downtravel and a shock or strap to limit lift.

this is where I get my limiting straps from...

but there is a ton of suppliers and I think even summit has them.

Re: Limiting Straps

The shock is limiting the downtravel right now.

Re: Limiting Straps

you did right, Use those ahocks to capture it right around 12". The ride height on those dudes is right at 9.5". Minimum compressed height is 4.5".

Re: Limiting Straps

i thought it was a bad thing to over extend your shocks. Wouldnt the bags be strong enough to mess something up in the shock?

Can you guys post some pics of where you mounted the limiting straps.

Re: Limiting Straps

I don't think anyone mounted limiting straps. I know I have never seen them on a 2wd suspension.

Re: Limiting Straps

you can use a standard gas shock to capture the bag with out damaging the shock. As Tony stated already the colapsed and extended heights..
