Stupid transmission question
This is probably a stupid question but does anyone know or can point me to a thread as to whats involved in replacing the front seal in a turbo 350

dropping it or at least sliding it forward so that you can get the torque convertor out and then using a screwdriver popping out the old seal and using a hammer to set the new one, then put it all back

Its not that bad but be careful when your putting the tranny back my dad list his 85 swb beautiful truck because he ket his buddy swap the trans and the idiot didnt slide the torque converter far enough back and blew the front seal out and set the truck on fire and now i have a chassis and a bed everything else was too far gone

when you have the trans bolted back to the engine make sure the converter will spin freely before bolting it back to the flywheel/flexplate. if it doesnt spin freely it isnt on right

When you take the seal out make sure you DO NOT score the seat, this will cause your seal to leak. When reinstalling the seal use a piece of soft wood to seat the seal or a rubber malet, this will lessen the chance of damaging the seal.
