Interesting that you had him blast parts before they were installed... Make sure to prime those hidden areas or they will rust very quickly... I had my cab blasted, them installed the new cab corners, floor and such... Someday i'll epoxy prime everything together and be ready for the body shop

Mike it's definitely a "process". He wanted to get all the pickling solution off the rockers and cab corners and floor first so that's why he blasted them so the epoxy primer will stick better. Now he'll weld everything up, blast some areas again including all the welding seams and then shoot another round of primer.

Man that fresh metal looks so nice! Do you mind me asking what having all of it blasted cost?

It's tough to say exact cost on just the blasting cause he's doing all the metal fabricating and welding and then priming everything. Just to give you an idea on just the cab he's charging me $1200, which includes blasting the cab, cut out the old floor, rockers and cab corners. Then weld everything back in, fill the 4 trim hole and then prime everything. After much research I thought I was a fantastic deal for me.

Just the blasting alone would probably average $500-$600+ depending on the place. As long as he does good work that will require little to no bondo then $1200 seems fair. Is he going to fit the doors as well? make sure because if the floor is wrong you'll never get them on right...

Yup he's fitting the doors. He's actually in the process of bracing the cab today.

Dang $1200 is cheap for all that work..

I have a 72 4x4 that was converted into a short bed but when they cut the frame they cut it in front of the rear cab mounts. So when i pulled the bed apart to replace the floor i noticed that on the drivers side the cab mount has been welded to the frame and it sits about 1/2 inch higher than the passenger which is only held on by two bolts that they drilled in. I'm wondering if you know the measurements for how high up the rear cab mount sits from the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the mount. Ive been looking around but havent founf anything yet. If you could help me out with this it would be awesome. Thanks again.

That sounds pretty good, I know some people would charge that just for blasting.

Mikey, it's 1 inch from the top of the frame rail to the top of the drivers rear cab mount, or 4 3/4 inches from the bottom of the frame rail to the bottom of the mount. Good luck!

Cab almost finished. Coming out fantastic. Floor and cab corners welded in. Just need to finish the rockers and do a little more metal fab and it's almost done. I'm so happy with how it's coming out!

Rockers in and tunnel cut out with nuts welded under floor for easy mounting.

looks like you're making good progress,
just want make a quick comment, in the picture, it looks like the floor panel is only spot welded across the front, if that's the case, you need to finish welding it all the way across.

so the new floor was cut just below the factory spot weld area? Interesting approach, I used the factory spot weld area to reattach mine... nice progress...
