Changed a set of pushrods found a bent one that screwed up the lifter, Trucks ticking like a time bomb got new parts to fix it on the way. Changed all the clocks to the new time and goofed off the rest of the day.

Re: What did you get done 3/13/11 edition

I actually sold a truck Friday night. I drove to Shawnee ,Oklahoma Saturday with a friend from work and bought another Honda ATV . He bought a 420 Rancher and I bought another 250 Recon and a new set of tires for the Recon we have had for several years. . We saved a bunch of money that way. I almost bought myself a new one also but decided I should just get what I set out to buy . Today will be spent cleaning up around the house.

Today I ordered new window regulators for the new to me pontiac, as well as replaced one serpentine belt and changed the spark plugs. Also got the 73/74 turn signal lenses put on the '76. Looks much better now...

Post Re: What did you get done 3/13/11 edition

Put up a pallet rack in the barn.
Finally finished the solid crank pulley swap on the diesel, no more rattle at idle but still has the rod noise just before it shifts. Added coolant since it's dripping it somewhere I can't see.
Drained a little oil out of the Allis' trans and engine to be sure there was no water in them (sitting outside for 2 years), no issues. Pulled sown the RH bull gear pan to get the ice out, the wheel won't turn when it's below freezing. Suprise, no water??? Cleaned the mouse nest out of the finals. Made a gasket and reinstalled the pan with only minimal spillage of 80W90.
Finished rebuilding the carb for the 77, had to swap throttle shafts and choke pull-offs to the new carb. Trying to decide if I should replace the gaskets while I'm that far ahead. Motor is sucking oil up the PCV breather, suspect the rings are gone.
Went thru 3 boxes of 2.8 S10 stuff, some keepers, most scrap. Seperated most of the aluminum from the steel (hammer and chisel work mostly...). Packed the good stuff up and put it on top of the new rack (10' off the floor).
I;m glas the weekend is over - I hurt.

Re: What did you get done 3/13/11 edition

Gave the little diesel an altitude adjustment. While I had the front end apart for the spindles, I replace the upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm, upper and lower control arm bushings, front brakes and had the rotors turned.

I put djm 3" spindles on it, cut a coil, and a djm flip kit in the rear. It may need to come down another half inch in the front but I'm gonna let it settle first and see how it looks. Also it's sitting on the bumpstops in the rear so those need to come out.

Re: What did you get done 3/13/11 edition

I sneeked into goodguys in scottsdale with a borrowed window tag and some free tickets today. No one even questioned the year(supposed to be 72 and later only)However, I got filmed a whole bunch by roddin and racin TV. He stopped me, filmed me draggin the whole body driving up to the camera, then draggin the bumper after the camera lol. I had no idea who it was at the time, so when he took a shot of my window sticker and asked me what year it was I said it was a 73 on a 72 frame lol. We will see how that turns out.

Re: What did you get done 3/13/11 edition

Got my raised steering arm on. Needed to file the edge of a messed up threead on one of the studs. Cleaned, and sat the arm on. Cleaned, and sat the conical washers in place. Then started the lock nuts. Using a 1/2" drive ratchet I ran the nuts down. Got them as tight as I could with just the ratchet and switched to a technique of hitting the steering arm with a hammer, and using a 4' piece of DOM other the ratchet to tighten them. Worked like a charm.

See work log in signature for pictures.

Re: What did you get done 3/13/11 edition

I worked on my 64. I got the rear cab pinch weld lip & the rear cab support trimmed in the center of the cab for d.shaft clearance @ full dump.

That was easy enough; it was the logistics of getting the truck to the house & in the driveway that was the 'challenge':
I have to push the truck out of the storage building (forward/back several times to align w/the trailer for loading..... oh yeah, there's no steering column), load it onto the trailer, unload it @ the house (similar forward/back several times to align w/the driveway & then push it up the inclined driveway), remove the bed using an engine hoist, 2x4's, 2x6's, & a 40x48 pallet, work on c-notching the cab floor, re-mount the bed, re-load the truck, & bring it back to storage.

I worked alone getting it home & in the driveway.... my buddy Matt came over & helped get the bed back on & get it back into the storage building.

I put a motor back in my truck and had to do surgery to the frame rail to make my new headers fit.

Re: What did you get done 3/13/11 edition

I went to a local car show/swap meet in Raleigh, NC. I was very disappointed with the show. I did pick up a throttle bracket I was looking for. Then I spent all day Sunday hanging out with my daughters and riding the Rubicon. Beautiful day.
