Can you give us the specs on your truck? How bad is the rust and where is it all at? Do you have any pictures of underneath and the drip rail?

I thought I'd seen that truck before when I read the CL ad. Good luck with it, hope it goes to a good home!

Re: Going to sell my truck what do you think?
Ps rocker, ps inside door around hinge, bed floor has some rust through spots nothing really major, I believe it had a blow out on the DS rear tire cus the bed side has a dent at the bottom of it, I cleaned the drip rail out it didn't appear to have any rust through spots in it so on the safe side I filled it in with some POR 15 I think that's what it was

What about the drive train and and motor? Your best bet is to look on your local craigslist to see what trucks like yours are going for because everywhere seems to be different.

Re: Going to sell my truck what do you think?
Yeah, all that stuff that the guys mentioned. With more info we can give you a closer number. Keep in mind that we are all in different areas and the same truck brings different money in different markets, but we can probably ballpark it for you.

Re: Going to sell my truck what do you think?
well I for one would Clean the Engine bay a little more and try your best to tuck wire away just do the little thing's that you would look for if your where looking for a truck.
Now i have 12 trucks from 1964--72 and i keep records on all that I've done to my trucks. Now my father always tells me if i run stock exhaust.I should run the 1972 Corvette spark plug wires reason why is there longer wires and that NB# 1-3 and NB# 2-4 go along side the engine and come up throw the motor mount. You have to lube up the end boot and pull it off to slip it throw and push it back on. But man it Keeps the wire from being on top of the engine and really dresses up the engine. If your not running HEI and your running points it can still work.I would barrow a power washer and clean the engine and the bay and mabey do some retouch up on the engine it self. Its like selling a house if you want the maximum doller for it and curb appeal you have to put some time into it if not then people will grind on you and point out all the bad in it.I'm not one for dress up kits with chrome valve covers and timing chain cover. The last 2 trucks i bought the guys put them dress up kits on.All they did was try to get my focus off off the real problem the truck had and it was bad and very unsafe the guy broke a metal rear brake like and how he fixed it was he put a peace of fuel line in and put two hose clamps i almost crashed into a school buss on the test drive he said the brakes where a little spungie. All that i would do is power wash the engine Paint the orange valve cover Black repaint the pulleys Black and make the engine stand out if the engine runs good make it one of the selling points this is my 1971 Cheyenne i bought 4 years ago for $500.00 it was a steal I added the Intake the in the first few pictures it shows the stock cast Iron intake I put on a used fan shroud and as you can the wires are tucked away out of site and now it have alum intake and Edalbrock carb and the GM SS steel chrome wheels everything else is how i got it |

Re: Going to sell my truck what do you think?
good advice here. And I agree...values are all over the place but overall down from even a year ago.....
More specs will help us with a good value, but I really think detailing it as mentioned will make the biggest difference in value at this point!

well its a good running 350 with headers, cheery bomb exhaust, the 3 on column shifts good it does not get hung up when shifting

Re: Going to sell my truck what do you think?
I'd give $100 less than the scrap value. That truck looks beat to ****.
From looking at the pictures it looks like the owner did not really care about taking care of it. It may have a "strong running" 350, but the cherry bombs, redneck steering wheel, and aftermarket tach say to me that it may have been to subjected to drag racing and tranny drops. ...not to mention the massive rust. This may or may not be the truth, but if I was a perspective buyer its what I would think.

Re: Going to sell my truck what do you think?
If you check out www.nada.com you can find out what they have for valuation. The lowest value that they list is probably (realistically) twice what you might get, but I don't know. It's probably more than a parts vehicle, but the rust/damage have a negative impact on the value.
People today are struggling to keep their homes. These trucks, as a hobby, are a luxury. A guy who just needs a truck, will probably look for something newer. Do I like having to say this? Nope. I have a '69 SWB that (at best) is a basket case. Until I get it put back together....that's all mine is. The price would be way below what I'd like to get, and even farther below what I have in it. But, that's my situation, not yours. What are you asking for it on CL?

Re: Going to sell my truck what do you think?
I guess it would depend on the buyer and what he is looking for. In my case, I'm looking for a cab for my truck but I'm not a body person so this truck has too much rust through for me. I looked at one in better condition last month in my area for $2500. However, the cab top was had too much rust.
If someone were looking for a parts truck this may be okay but don't expect a lot of money. |
