Help me with my color please!
OK so I am not the best when it comes to photoshopping or anything but this was what I as able to put together.
I am looking to paint the Suburban in the near future and I am stuck between the red and the turquoise. I added some rims and tires (similar to a set of weld Typhoons with BF Goodrich TA's that I am thinking about and tracking on Craigslist), and tried to show how the bumpers and side view mirrors will look once they are changed from black powder coated to chrome. votes would be awesome and so would any input. Thanks so much, AJ Last edited by burbluv; 03-24-2011 at 07:42 PM. |

54 views and 6 votes. So far turquoise is off to a strong lead.
Keep your votes coming please. Any thoughts on the rims? AJ |

Re: Help me with my color please!
You'll like the bumpers brightened up; check out my '66 build thread and you can see the change I made from black to silver. I'm not voting now as I dont know what I like, blue or red for the truck.
Keep bumpin' it up and see what gets the votes!!

Re: Help me with my color please!
i voted turq! As for wheels - I think a 4wd vehicle looks best with stock white steel wheels (or turquoise) with blackwall "4wd tires" i.e. something that looks off road, but nothing outlandish - something that might have come on the truck new. I think Lil Red 66 has a 66 K10 that has exactly what I'm talking about, but with black steelies - if I recall correctly. Anyhoo, as a back-up, I think the stock early 70's K10 and Blazer rallies are just about perfect also. I know they are "stock", but daang they look good. Nice truck - whatever you choose will look good!

Re: Help me with my color please!
With turquoise paint, stock wheels and caps, and painted bumpers, you can't lose. I think GM really nailed it back in the sixties... and we are going to "improve" on it now??... I don't think so.
Just my two cents. |

Re: Help me with my color please!
I agree with Jocko and Oem4me. I like the typhoon rims but they don't finish it right, but I will be going with chrome bumpers. If anyone has any leads on 4x4 stock rims please send them my way.

Re: Help me with my color please!
On our trucks, I am a real fan of any of the factory color combinations. I really like the solid colors that they used, and the combination of the steel wheels and poverty caps looks so cool to me.
You have to maintain the white top, though. That feature adds so much to the overall look. I would get a color chip chart for your year and maybe an obscure color will catch your eye.

I like the deep red because its not as common.
Either one will look good.

Re: Help me with my color please!
Turquoise by far, steel wheels with the correct hubcaps. Aftermarket rims date the year the truck was refinished, classic steel wheels and center caps never go out of style cause they belong there. Originally two tone body color got rims the same color as the main body, therefore in this case Turquoise. Solid colored trucks got black rims. On my 62 K10 I got hold of some 15" x 8" stock blazer rims from the 73+ Blazer and mounted some stock hubcaps on it. Looked beafy, stock and clean.
But then that's me and my limited opinion.

Re: Help me with my color please!
I agree with the Deep Red, because of it being uncommon. If it was totally OEM, then the turquoise would be a better fit, but I voted for the red!

Re: Help me with my color please!
burbluv, when you say turquoise, are you talking factory crystal turqoiuse? When I look at your photoshop - it kinda looks like light green or even neptune green (both of which I like, by the way) but crystal turquoise is a sweet factory color. if someone could post a photoshop in the actual color that would be quite helpful (if i had computer skills, I would....)
Anyone know if there was a difference in what color the stock steel wheels were with 2wd vs 4wd? i.e. I have always heard what was mentioned above about 2-tone always had body-color wheels and solid color trucks had black wheels. But I've normally seen 4wd trucks with black wheels, even if they had 2-tone paint. Anyone know? Bueller, Bueller...? (just curious) Last edited by jocko; 03-25-2011 at 08:16 PM. |

Re: Help me with my color please!
Anyone ever seen these?
Made by Stockton Wheel http://www.stocktonwheel.com/light_truck_wheels.php 59 Series - GM K-10 15x10 4x4 Rally with Factory Cap & Trim Ring If you're like a lot of other Chevy/GM 4x4 enthusiasts who like the looks of their 15" OEM wheels but want to use a wider or larger tire, Stockton Wheel has the cure. Stockton Wheel can turn your 15" wheel into a 16" wheel OR widen your 15x8 wheel to a 16x10! You can even choose your own backside setting. They can juice a 15 inch to a 16 inch. Anyone ever seen or done? |

Re: Help me with my color please!
i voted for turquoise also, but i think the wheels really depend on do you want a original stocker or (considering you want to use a facory color) or more original with custom add on's such as wheels?
but you just gotta love turquoise.good luck! |
