Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
yeah, im only cooking 150 hp soo im not too worried lol! Hopefully to make some more with a rebuilt and properly tuned quadrajet and a new intake manifold, i hope too anyway! I know i wont be making much more, but this carb is in desperate need of a rebuild and im really eager to do it! I know alot of guys can make serious power with the truck rochesters. arent they something around like 795 cfm?
If i cant make this carb perform, ill be going to a 2 barrel.. lol!

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
Go for an LS engine. You can get a 4.8(275hp) or 5.3(275-300hp) for less than a grand on ebay with less than 100K miles on them. Totally worth the extra power AND mileage.

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
a stock quad is 750 cfm, and they really do alot better with a few changes. The Cliff Ruggles q-jet book helped me. Other than the engine being worn out, yours is probably lean with slow secondary opening. Cool build, sir

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
yeah, ive been looking into that book! I plan on getting it when i get around to rebuilding my carb.
The engine really isnt worn out too bad, allways been serviced properly. The trans was rebuilt about 10k ago. When its warm itll idle ridiculously low, so it cant be beat too hard. Small update for today : After getting trash talked by some kid in a stock ranger with some econo "mud terrains", im gunna buy some new parts! Ive already bought new LCA u bolts, Rear U bolts (for when i pull the overload), Energy suspension tie rod boots(my stock tie rods are in really good shape but the boots are weathered, no rips though!), Energy Suspension Ball Joint boots, Long story short, last thing i need for the front is Moog Ball joints and ill be ready to install!

He may be a park ranger, but you are a sleeper. They all know what he's got, but they don't know what you've got.

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
update for today,
Got my Competition Engineering U bolts today... theyre thinner than whats on there now, theyll fit fine, but do you any of you guys think that its gunna be a problem? there the right inner diameter but the rod size is smaller. also got my tie rod dust boots and should have my ball joint dust boots tomorow evening. As far as changes on the truck today, i pulled the wheel wells out, and mounted the battery in the bed. zip tied my stock overflow for now.. i have to make it do until i get a moroso catch can.

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
just ordered Moog upper ball joints, Cheapy overflow tank(had to relocate when pulled wheel wells), battery box.
Plan is to be doing the suspension in 2 weeks! Getting closer and closer every day, feels nice.

this is where i got my u-bolts from. mine were for a 14 bolt so they were alittle longer but the shaft on the bolt is 7/8th thick so i dont think ill break them and they ship really quick. im sure yours will be strong enough but if you break them i would recommend these ones. |

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
looking good
You might want to save the inner fenders, I ended up putting mine back in. I didn't like all the dirty and rain getting in.

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
im not sure the exact lengths, but about 8 ft. and i basically, just bolted the cable onto the stock wires, cleaned all the contacts really good. havent had any problems with it. actually is way better than it was before. Im not sure on the thickness because it was scrap cable from my friends shop. Not in any way the final way of mounting it but its working so far!

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
The tires hit the inner fenders at full compression, and its SOOOOO much easier to work on! I can deal with some dirt and water

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build
My tires hit also The Blazer doesn't have the wheelwells though, that is a lot easier to work on with out them.
