Does a Federal 85 K1500 have O2 Sensor?
I've seen some conflicting opinions about this, and wonder what the definitive answer is? The wiring diagram I have shows an O2 sensor, but I'm not certain it's showing the federal version. There's not even a hole in the downtube for the sensor on the car, although there is a suspicious-looking cut purple/dark blue wire running up from around the tranny, toward the firewall.
BTW, the car seems to run rich, which led me to look at (well, for) the O2 sensor. Suspect the carb needs a rebuild, in any case. |

Here's my guess, they did not put o2 sensors in until the TBI came out in 87. Although 86 was sort of a bastard year engine wise, so I'm not 100%. But I'm fairly confident your 85 would not have one.

Check your engine decal. Federal standards were usually much looser than CA standards.

You're correct! There's no evidence of an O2 sensor on the diagram. I hadn't realized they were still building vehicles that way in the mid '80s. Guess it's because it's a truck. Well, at least that's one potential trouble spot eliminated.
