Source for LS?
Where are you guys picking up your LS engines?
I am looking for a 5.3/4L60E or 6.0/4L80E combo for my 71' project and was just curious where you guys were finding them... Last edited by Number98; 05-05-2011 at 07:30 PM. |

Re: Source for LS?
#98, there are literally tons of places to pick up your LS, best bet is to find a wrecking yard you trust, close to you and ask them to keep an eye out. other than that, there is LKQ. I used LKQ and was quite impressed with the motor and customer service. You can look at Craigs list and see if someone is parting an LS truck/tahoe etc out. you can go to the insurance auctions and pick up an entire truck and part out what you dont need. It really depends on how far, deep you want to get into finding your LSx motor combo.
Also look here for some great info! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=456787

Re: Source for LS?
I used car-part.com (searches junkyards) and found a decent lq4 from a junkyard about an hour away. Was much easier than dealing with shipping an engine.

Re: Source for LS?
$850 for the engine (sub 80k) with a guarantee to run (although that expired after 30 days i think). This was the longblock, but didn't come with the alt/power steering stuff or a wiring harness.
I have a FULL price list with part numbers (many) and where I sourced everything from that I will be releasing shortly. Hopefully it will help people see the costs involved, and may help them decide on parts combo's easier.

Got mine on CL out of a totaled Silverado, complete for $950 (5.3L and 4L60E).

they put 4l80e's behind the 4.8? Was it from a service van?
