My Kids First Truck

Hey Guys... I thought I would share with you what weve been up to. Its a 87 Cab on a Blazer frame with a home made box. This is the result of about 3 different trucks put together on a small, small, small budget. Were learning alot, and having some fun too. My son has really become an expert on 73-87 trucks in a hurry. We'll get more pics on here as we go along, and maybe we'll get to hear from my kid once in a while. Thanks guys for a great web site!! OTR...

Great Job!! The time spent with your son will be worth more than if you'd bought him a $40,000 truck to both of you. What he will learn working with you is icing on the cake. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the replies... The box is home made ( we bought it that way) with what I was told were international fenders. And yes... The wheels are staying on.

Hey guys...It's been quite a while since Ive been on here, and there have been quite a few changes. I want to post some pics of how the truck turned out, but I dont want to flood the place with a bunch of pics, so I will add a few, a few at a time. And yes...I did learn those are ford fenders, and they stayed.

Re: My Kids First Truck

So...After I posted the above pics, my kid drove the truck around town here, and even took it mudding a few times with his buddies before he went into the Marines. The truck sat around here and waited for him to return home to beat on it for a few days...then back to the Marines. On one of his weekends home tragedy struck...

Re: My Kids First Truck

My kid swears he didnt jump the truck...but I think he did. No matter how much I tell him he's not in trouble...It's his truck...his money...he wont cave in and tell me how it happened, other than he went into a huge mud hole, hammered the throttle, and when he came out the other side...it looked like this. Not only are the frame rails bent, but they are bowed out at the top! (The energy has to go somewhere... right?)
