Cant get my brake lights to go out

Hey, I am sure someone has had this problem with their truck. I have a 74 and I followed the fulcrum all the way to the master cylinder pushrod and I cant seem to locate the brake light activation switch. Anyone off hand know where it is? I have not had time to play with it much, so dont be surprised if this sounds dumb. Thanks

I believe the arm of the brake pedal is what contacts the switch. If you follow the pedal arm from the pivot point, down to the pad, then the switch should be located within a couple inches from the pivot point.

exaclty. That was the problem with my Suburban when I got it. Just push the switch closer to the brake. The brake needs to push on it to make the lights go out. It grounds the circuit. When you step on the pedal, it opens the loop and the lights come on.

There is a little button assembly mounted under the dash right behind the brake pedal. Lay down on the floor and look up.
Near the button that is pressed by the pedal you can thread the assembly to adjust when the lights turn on. Adjust the assmebly so it is almost resting on the peice that activates it, but doesnt touch yet. This way your lights will come on almost right when you hit the pedal. One thing to consider is the pedal return.
If the pedal doesnt always return all the way back (or where it was when you set the button assembly) then the lights may stay on, when they shouldnt be. You may want to drive around at night after you adjust it to make sure they are coming on and off when they should be.
