Mine is different (see post 14). We're not sure if mine is original though or some replacement. it seems I have the only 67 GMC custom on the board so I have nothing to compare my emblem to. Nobody else that has seen a custom 67 in person has piped in and I cant blame them for not recording the details of the lettering. I thought they were all the same to at first and they may be if my trucks emblem is not correct.

There are more super customs out there, they say custom but have the big rectange emblem that kinda looks like a vent (see toomuchstuff's post, 23 IIRC) and there are many base models out there. Its strange but I'm in the no mans land middle of trim levels!!

Jud, I think your emblem might be a one year only item. I offer as proof this NOS box/emblem I got in a large lot of NOS parts I just bought. Check the dates. Maybe you can track down the part number.

The emblems you have are 67 only. I had those on a pair of 67 gmc fenders I sold back in August. That was the first time I had ever seen them and the truck was all original and except for color was identicle to my truck. I looked up in my 1971 GMC dealership parts book an they only give a listing for 1 style of "cutsom" emblem for 1967. The illustrated view of the 67 front end also shows the tall rectangular custom emblem. Where was your truck built? The 67 I took apart was an early production with serial number around 500. I'm wondering if there was an early production emblem that was discontinued by the 9/1970 printing of my book. My 3 cents.

I have two 67 tailgates also. One is expensive and one is not so much. The one that is not so much, a previous owner pop rivited the small letter GMC skin onto a tailgate. It has no rust and is fairly straight. The one that is expensive came off a truck that had a camper on it its whole life. I was saving it for my personal truck, which I've thrown the towel in on.

Here is my opinion on the emblems. I still believe yours are incorrect. I have looked through my books and the only custom emblem i see is the large one that reads custom on top. It looks like that was used for the custom or super custom best as i can tell. Hopefully someone else can help out. Jud, maybe get the part number off the back of yours, or if you can see behind the fender, see if any other holes have been filled.

I believe the Z in my VIN indicates fremont built. My vin is KM1590DZC1009A so does that mean was the 9th off the line? No SPID like most all 67 GMC's. Have you had SPID's in yours? Also, I'm interested in the good gate, we'll see about a deal for that and the parts truck.

Based on gmc vins it looks like yours is the 9th built in freemont. My 67 "parts truck" is the 1500 built in freemont. The one the pink gate came off of was the 500th or so out of freemont. The low mileage truck still had the paper build sheet under the seat.

Randy for president! This truck will definitely help a ton and its really nice to have someone knowledge do the prepurchase inspection. Looking forward to getting it this spring. We were working on the tandem trailer today getting it all ready for my trip. I may have found another one in colorado that could be the sheetmetal donor. I might have to get a bigger trailer! I will be miles ahead with the 351 and other parts on this one.

305 V6 motor mounts
One T3 low/high bulb (3 terminal)
Grey door panels
Armrests
67 GMC complete parts truck if sheetmetal is decent.
NOS trim: front fenders, left box, tailgate pcs.

Will be driving to Colorado from Minnesota in June and can pick up then. May also consider states bordering CO.
