DBW Pedal mounting
Anyone have pics of how they mounted their dbw gas pedal? I have the style with the large plastic pedal. I'd rather not mess with trying to cut or modify the plastic, but I don't have a flat spot on the firewall that lines up well. How did you guys do brackets?

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
You should really read Dennis' build.
He has it detailed around post #1080 I think.

Who is Dennis?
I have crazy ADD so I only read a couple pages at a time on builds, and I like to stare at the pictures.

Haha, the doctor is in! I try to stay away from caffeine... it doesn't mix well with the handful of narcotics my actual doctors have me on.

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
Please do!
Right now it looks like I can build a small plate to attach to the firewall, and extend left to give me room to mount the potentiometer, but im a little unsure of how this will work.

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
BR3W,
Here is how I did mine. I didn't use the firewall, mounted off the pedal mount. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=300335 TR

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
Thanks TR, with that style pedal, I can see how it would work. Problem is that I have the big plastic pedal.

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
Nice work TR.
BR3W, Yours looks kinda like mine....only yours has more of a curve. I have the bracket mine mounted to from the van. I put a bend in it to get the right pedal angle and will bolt it to the firewall using three bolts. Mock up, only one bolt holding it right now. |

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
Well now I can tell you the rest of the story. The pedal I show in my thread would not work with my engine. So I wound up with a plastic thing too. I was able to make an angle bracket to mount it to the plate I had the other one mounted to. Here is a pic. It is not clear from your picture where the mounting holes are exactly on your pedal.

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
I made a plate with 2, studs welded to it, then welded the plate to the firewall over the three original mounting holes (welded them up too). Then put the firewall insulator back on, slid the pedal assembly over the studs and put two nuts on it, works good and looks good.

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
Had a little time this afternoon. For the way it looks its surprisingly sturdy. 2 1/4" bolts and then the bent 5/16" bolt. Hope this helps.

Re: DBW Pedal mounting
Thanks guys, it does help. I think my issue is going to be the big curve my pedal has in it. I'm going to use some time this long weekend to see if i can fab a bracket that will work.
