locking door from inside with altman kit

For those of you who installed the altman/trique lock kit, how do you lock your doors from the inside. I tried everything I can think of, but can't get it to work. This is for a 1959 chevy apache. Thanks

Re: locking door from inside with altman kit

I just found out you can't. I was just wondering if anyone else has done some modification to make it work. Thanks

Best thing I've come up with is to use an electric solenoid, either their kit or some other and have a wireless remote. I think that's what they told me too.

Re: locking door from inside with altman kit

Are you guys talking about the Bear Claw kit?

Here is the installation instructions:

http://app4.websitetonight.com/proje...structions.pdf

"No Altman Easy Latch Kit will allow you to lock your door by pushing forward on the interior
handle. It is advised to use electric lock actuators or fabricate your own lock rods."

I now know that about the lock. I was wondering ,though, if anyone did fabricate some kind of rod to lock from the inside. Thanks

Re: locking door from inside with altman kit

I did it with bear claws, you might use the same technique with altmans. in my build..
used the original strap, just elongated the hole to make it slip in one direction. and lock the other..

I tried to do that and cut a large slit, but it didn't work.
