LS1 valve covers...

I have been looking for a set of valve covers for the LS1 in my Blazer. K-Tech makes a pair, but they have Corvette cast in them. Here is a set I found this weekend at HeatWave. What do y'all think...

Smooth the surface on those and they would look pretty nice. Of course I haven't seen a lot of LS1 valve covers to compare it to.

That's the problem. LS1's don't have valve covers. They have all the valve train in the head, so they have a flat lid, rather than the tradational cover like the one shown.

The LT1 or LS1 is designed to be really low profile, so it fits undr the hood of F-bodies, or Vette's. Under the hood of our trucks they look stomped on. I raised mine up as far as possible, but still need to add more height to it.....

can you get those polished? I am guessing the black rail is to relocate the coils, so that would look pretty nice.

They don't offer them polished yet. Considering the cost, I wouldn't want to add any option from them anyway.

Yes, those coil brackets are ther icing on the cake. If it weren't for them, it would be hard to justify the expense...

Do some powder coating to the covers and the bracket for the coils and it will look good.

That would be too normal. The fuel rail covers can be made to look nice, but that doesn't help with the motor looking squished. I need something to add height to it.
I will probably wind up with one of these to solve the issue-

Ken, that still gets my vote. I really liked the looks of the one we saw @ Goodguys last year. My only concern would be effort vs. end result.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

I really like the looks of that blown LS1. Funny you mentioned size. My Jimmy had a nice little 350 in it and I was going to use it. After we got going I thought that engine bay needs a big block. It was a size issue. Ok.......no funny jokes about size

Yeah, me too Scot. I haven't been able to get past it yet. The 5k is still stuck in my throat, but if I swallow really hard, I might not choke...

If my Blazer had started with a decent 350, I might have left it alone. It was born with a 305 that started life with only 150 hp. It had 200k miles on it when I bought it, and was running good, but not for long. It's in a better place now.

I looked hard at the 502/502 as well. I even considered the Ram Jet 502 when it came along. I decided to go with the LS1 to be different. Too bad it's taking so long to get done. Now days you can't swing a dead cat without hitting an LS1 coversion...

Our trucks are just like real life "size does matter"....
