Re: anybody running 4.3 motor swaps

do you already have the motor?

not that i want to change your mind or anything but me personally if i was gonna swap in a fuel injected motor but didnt want to break the bank i would do a 4.8. the 4.3 doesnt really have that much power and doesnt get very good gas mileage either. my 4.3 is full bolt ons plus cam. dynoed just under 180hp to the tires. gets 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the high way. my 5.3 sierra has at least 40-50 more hp and gets 17 and 23 respectively. 4.8s can easily be carbed as well. although depending on how you did it you may have people askin if its a 305 v6.

either way

Yea I can get a vortec 4.3 with 30k miles free that's why I was thinking of it they put them in astro vans and they have to weigh near what the Burb weighs.

Re: anybody running 4.3 motor swaps

the 4.3 is a sweet V6 with plenty of power. Do you have the tranny too? It might be wise to have that original combo and adapt from there where needed.

My last Astro was a 2000 and I pulled a 21ft travel trailer with it and it has plenty of power.

Re: anybody running 4.3 motor swaps

jack up the rear end and rotate the tire. the ratio is figured out by how ever many times the drive shaft turns in relation to how many times the tire turns. ex. one full tire rotation the drive shaft fully rotates 3 and a 3/4 times. id bet 3.73

posi unit rear ends need 1 tire rotation. non posi(open) need 2 tire rotations with one tire on the ground.

Re: anybody running 4.3 motor swaps

Ok and a posi will spin both tires the same way correct? I haven't even had a chance to look at it since I've had it and I always just did a burnout to figure it out lol
