Re: alternator bracket?

I don’t know if I had the same type alternator bracket, but I ran an Edelbrock intake/long water pump setup years ago when I first put my truck together. Looking at an old photo, as best I remember I just modified the bolt hole in the bracket into a slot by cutting out the center of the bracket hole. Rather than a circle it ended up a U shape, allowing fore and aft adjustment. I clamped it with a washer large enough to cover the gap and it worked fine for many years until I installed A/C and swapped to Alan Grove brackets.

Re: alternator bracket?

I have also had to modify the upper alt bracket to fit the Performer intake. I don't know why it isn't in the correct location. Edelbrock typically does a good job assuring fitment of factory parts.

Re: alternator bracket?

I had this problem on my 69 Chevelle with 350 and Perfomer intake. The car now has a big block, but if I remember correctly, I got an upper alternator bracket from a mid-80's Caprice that attached at a different location, and everything fit nicely.

Re: alternator bracket?

What do you know, I got lucky and found an old photo. 350 with Performer RPM, passenger side alternator, and mid-80's Caprice bracket...
