Frame I.D. Help!!!
I just purchased a donor chassis for the HD disc brakes and 5x5 bolt pattern but am curious as to how to decode the numbers stamped on the frame. Both the number under the left door and by the left motor mount say "C4Z 31774". I haven't been able to find out any thing searching the Internet so far that matches up with what numbers I have. I know it is a 73-87 chassis because of the disc brakes and rubber bushings in the front control arms, just not sure what year it is exactly. I am trying to gather more parts and just want to be sure I get the right stuff. Hopefully with all the "C10 heads" on here can help me out. Thanks.

Re: Frame I.D. Help!!!
It seems like those two links would work out if I had the full vin available to me but all I have to go off of is the 8 digit letter and number combo of "C4Z31774". Anyone else got any other ideas or hints to help me out? Thanks for the links by the way.

Re: Frame I.D. Help!!!
Just because it has disc brakes and the rubber control arm bushings does not mean it is a '73-'87 frame. The entire '73-'87 front suspension will bolt right up under a '63-'70 truck. I started doing that over 30 years ago, and it has been done countless times.
Looking at the VIN number on your frame, it appears to be missing some of the numbers. You might check it again. It appears to me to be a 2wd 1/2 ton built in the Fremont plant. Here is a thread with some more VIN de-coding info.
