Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
I found a large magnet headed for the trash; it was a large, flat thing for cars so I decided to save it.
I headed to Lori Ferber's Presidential Memorabilia at: http://www.loriferber.com There, I purchased a vintage bumper sticker about as old as my truck. That bumper sticker then went on the magnet, which was cut down to the size of the sticker. Then, the magnet met the bumper! The response has been positive from both sides of the aisle. People think it's cool to see a '78 pickup with a true 79-80 political bumper sticker on it and many thought it came with the truck. If this is too political, we can lock it or we can note that Lori Ferber's website sells vintage stickers from all ends of the political spectrum And the pics: (Yes, that sign says reserved for low emitting, fuel efficient vehicles!) And the best part - it's a magnet, so I can take it off with no problems:

That truck won its TOTM for whats on the inside. You will see why when he posts pics of it.
It still looks great Kurt. Almost makes me miss mine. Frank

That sticker and the old plates makes it look like it drove right out of a time machine! I always liked the old plates much better than the new ones.

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
Get outta town!!! That truck is sweet!!!!
So the pic of the speedo shows 30,000......so are we saying the truck looks like this because its all original or has it beed restored? The seat looks original if it only had 30,000 on it, but the rest of it looks pretty fresh. Those needles on the gauges are bright red, not common for this day and time even if it was all original with only 30K Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
I agree, the truck looks like it came right out of the '80s. Very sweet truck and the sticker adds another cool detail. Its also a great idea putting it on the magnet so you can take it off whenever and it also helps preserve the sticker...

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
Thanks for the compliments, guys!

The interior is the one area that is pretty much flawless, though I swear the dashpad is a replacement one. The clock works but it loses about an hour a day, so don't rely on it! The tops of the door panels by the window have fading as if water leaked in at some point. I've replaced the motor seals, oil pan seals, misc rubber in the doors, fixed the AC (but the compressor just died again!!!), completely flushed all the fluids a few times, pulled off the first owner's headers and put stock manifolds on, and rebuilt the carb. Up next are fresh springs, shocks, bushings and tires. After that it'll be valvetrain time. I am considering a tint because the FL sun is STRONG... or at least a seat and dash cover. Before I deployed, it used to sit in the garage while I drove my car to work, but now I take this to work almost every day. Life's too short and it's just too much fun to let it sit, miles be damned. I'm keeping it as long as I can, and my philosophy is to keep it looking original, running, and on the road. The original plan was to chop and drop, but I've changed my mind. My other car is a 91 Camaro with 17k miles on it; you could say I'm buying "history" and using it up, but I'm grateful somebody else preserved cars from the 75-95 timeframe (my favorite era) so that I could luck into a "new" old American car and keep it on the open road. The family, wife's ride in the middle.

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
Haha! thats awesome! I have an old front license plate on mine from a local rock staion. Conveniently enough it says "98 rock" on it and the top holes of the plate were broke. So I put it upside down and now its an "86" just as my truck is.

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
Glad everybody appreciates it...
Thanks, here are a few. Thirdgen Camaros are my favorite car out there and I waited a while to get this one. The car is a 1991 B4C "Special Service Package" which is often called the "police package" since it was intended for highway patrol. My car was not a police car, but an intentional dealership mishap where they cheated the system and ordered the B4C for showroom stock. B4C gives you the Z28 TPI motor, transmission, 3.42 posi rear, engine oil cooler, dual converter exhaust, 4-wheel disk brakes, 16" wheels and Z28 suspension; it wraps all of this in RS bodywork. The other "options" on my car are radio delete, 5-speed manual, and 4x factory speakers (that's right, radio delete but it has 4 factory speakers!).

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
So did you buy the Camaro after getting rid of the Vette or have you had this one all along?

I would like to add a new Silverado Crew Cab, though. I just saw the 5.3 V8 1500s, when properly optioned, can tow 9500 pounds. It used to be you needed a one ton and a diesel/big block to touch the 10k mark. Nice trucks; black with chrome trim would look cool towing the 78. Any idea what the curb weight on a 78 C10 is? Can't be much over 4000 lbs...

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
Man that camaro looks dealership fresh. I would have trouble deciding which one to drive.
My '78 weighted 3880 empty the other day when I hauled off some scrap metal. I had about half a tank of gas and maybe 75 lbs of extra junk they wouldnt take...

Re: Period Correct "Modification" with Pics
I absolutely love the Reagan Magnet. Just be carful here someone might find it offensive. I had a picture of Reagan as my avitar. Nothing political in my signature either. The administration here removed it. That was the day I quit being a paying member.

I love the look of that truck. Only mod is the bed topper but otherwise complete factory look even the old school hubcaps.
