What's a 2wd conversion worth? Not mine.

What do you guys think a 72 4x4 converted to 2wd is worth. No motor or trans. Paint not in good condition. Possibly minimal rust. What's a ball park figure?

Re: What's a 2wd conversion worth? Not mine.

Depends on a lot of factors, but with your light description, I personally wouldn't pay over 1.5K for it...and maybe not even that. Everyone has their own price on this type of thing, and for me, it would depend on how the conversion was done, the quality/condition of parts used, how complete the rest of the blazer is and the condition of the top.

IMO, a conversion doesn't change the value of the blazer, and you can find 4x4 blazers in this type of condition for cheap. For safety/piece of mind reasons, it might even be better to do the conversion yourself.

I have a converted 4wd to 2wd Blazer.. And as said by Tubbed, it depends on the overall condition of the rest of the vehicle. Picture would help alot.

Re: What's a 2wd conversion worth? Not mine.

I bought the blazer this morning! I think it may be factory 2wd. The front crossmember is bolted in but the entire rear swing arm suspension looks to be factory rivoted in, no bolts! And that part is complete drum to drum with panhard bar and shocks. The floor pans have some issues and it needs new inner and outer rockers. Windshield frame needs some work too. No rust in bed and rocker boxes are solid, no holes! There is no top. Has 67 front clip. No seats all of the wiring is gone. Bad news, no title. I'm going to see what it takes to get a lost title. Herd it can be done in IL but not sure how hard. Was told it's like $100. I will put some pics up soon. Any help on what I need to look for to see if it's factory 2wd would be great. Thanks guys!

Re: What's a 2wd conversion worth? Not mine.

If the VIN starts with a "C" it's a factory 2wd, and the frame should bend in towards each other above the rear axel like a truck (4x4's are straight).

Good luck with the title as I've never looked into that. Good luck with it...what's the plans?

Tubbed - What is your guess?, It looks as if it gets narrower to me. plus the tranny tunnel hump is short without a hole.

Re: What's a 2wd conversion worth? Not mine.

plans are to use any parts that I can for my 71 4wd, and then sell it as parts because it doesn't have title. Found out that I can get a title through the state of Maine in my name then I would have to retitle it in Illinois. It looks like it would cost around 500-600 bucks all together. So I won't be doing that. I'm going to cut patches from the bed floor and use the set of factory blazer doors that came extra for my other blazer. The doors need a little work but since they are correct, I'd like to try and use them. I paid for membership on here today but I don't seem to have it yet, when I do I'm going to post in classifieds.

Re: What's a 2wd conversion worth? Not mine.

Looks like a 2wd frame to me from that rear picture, but I've only seen 2 in my life with mine being one of them. I've never seen a 4x4 frame with my own eyes either. Too bad it's too much to get a title...I always like following the 2wd builds.

What's the story with the dash and steering wheel? I like the steering wheel...

Good luck with the sale!

Looks like po tried to create a custom dash. It looks like crap. The stero hole is cut. I'm not sure the wheel is from. It's not cracked but the grip is weathered. It is kinda neat.

That's not an old Mustang steering wheel, is it? I actually kinda like the smoothed dash.

I'm interested in the frame if you decide to sell it.

Re: What's a 2wd conversion worth? Not mine.

5-600 for a title? I don't know who you talked to, but i called about getting a title for my 72, maine said nope, earlier than 95, they don't even wanna deal with it. I know i have sold cars out of state, and all they needed was the last owners info for a title app in their state. But i don't know about IL. Don't they offer a retitle if you buy it from a state that doesn't require it?
Nice blazer, i'd love to have one of those 2wd ones.

I forgot the name of the company, but the guy I talked to said that he could title it for me through the state of Maine for $495, once I got the title back I would then have to have it titled in Illinois, which would be around $200 with tax and stuff. So I can't say that this is all 100% accurate but only what I was told. It's not worth it to me so I'm not going to look into it any further.
