1971 GMC Pickup
Hello new to the site. Buddy gave me a 1971 GMC PU truck with a 6 cylinder that is shot. Any suggestions on a motor swap? I of course would love a 350. I saw where someone put a 1990 model 350 in one. Where would I go to find out info on this? Thanks ALL suggestions appreciated....

welcome to the board. The FAQ section has a lot of info...but what are you looking for info on specifically. Any year 350 should work althought the mounts are slightly different and install in the other set of holes in the frame and crossmember.....the mounts can be had cheap (board member Krazyray sells them on the parts board here cheap)
The tranny crossmember probably will have to be moved depending on what transmission you go with (holes are likely already in the frame) and the driveshaft likely will have to be changed also or shortened but again, depends on the transmission that's in it and what you're going to put in it.

Welcome from NW Washington. A newer than 86 350 will need a different flywheel/flexplate than older, because they changed from 2pc rear main seal to a 1pc. Good luck with the project.

If you are going to go with a later model V8, try to find a donor vehicle with a complete engine/trans setup, so you can get the wire harness,computer and everything. That would be easiest.
