Re: Anyone use this gas tank from classicparts?
Appears to simply be the "Blazer" style tank...

I think the key on these tank installations is to mount them between the frame rails, up to the top of the frame. When folks mount them under the frame, that is when they are tail draggers. Trucks with rear roll pans allow more of the tank to show also. |

Re: Anyone use this gas tank from classicparts?
The classic parts and lmc catalogs say this fits 63-66 trucks. Does anyone know if that's because the frame width or because of the coil vs leaf rear end? I've got a 60, but with a coil rear end and was wanting one of these tanks.

Re: Anyone use this gas tank from classicparts?
I think it is because of the frame width, I did go out and take a picture from the rear of my truck yesterday......
here is that picture: http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G..._jb2dtZs-XL-LB Thanks for the compliments guy, I started it 8 months ago, my first ever build, it seems like an eternity, but you have to realize that I own a used Truck Dealership Freightliner, KW, Pete, we build dump trucks, so we worked on it when we had time, and unfortunately this last year we had a lot of time since business has been so slow, but we learned a lot and had a great time. I found a lot of ways to save money on these builds as I went along, now have 1 65 chevy that we are going to hot rod and slam (to sell) and another 66 that is a BBW, factory air, 283, powerglide, p/s , custom that we are going to restore to stock condition after making it a SWB fleetside.......will see if there is any money in restoring these trucks and reselling, the green truck is my daily driver and I will not sell it. This tank is bolted to the bottom of the frame flange and I used the straps that came with it, so I do not think it is going anywhere.......... |
