Does the 400 trans have a port to plug in a trans temp gauge?
Guys, I am installin a coole on my trans, and already have all that figured out, What Ineed to know is, is there a port on the side of the 400trans so I can screw in the sensor for a trans temp gauge and then run my wire to it? Like this one...
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-4357/ If not, I could install one inline in the rubber hose AFTER its went through the radiator and cooler, right? But which gauge kit would I buy? Thanks a lot guys

I want to install the gauge before the cooler so I know exactly how much it helped. I put one on my 01 but didnt do that. It kept it cooler tho for sure

Re: Does the 400 trans have a port to plug in a trans temp gauge?
you'd want to install the temp sensor as close to the trans as possible, BEFORE the cooler. the temp in the cooler doesnt matter, its the temp in the trans itself that counts. so id mount it inline right near where the fluid comes out (ie. is at its hottest) if you cant find a port to plug it into. you want to mount your sensor at the hottest possible point in the system, not the coolest.
I dont know about any ports in a th400 though, sorry. |

Well to answer this question, yes, most 400's apparently do have taps for this.
