Re: Brothers (sale)
For bed kits, I think Mar-K industries is the leader in quality.
For bumpers - I have not seen any repops that I know of - But... how can you sell "Show Quality" bumpers for $130? Even if the stamping is super accurate, I think the old chrome used to have a layer of copper, then nickel and finally chrome on top. I don't think you're going to get that. Now, if you want a chrome bumper that looks nice for awhile (no idea on longevity) I think the Brother's bumper will do. You're in Oregon - you might be able to find decent OEM bumpers still around. Also, don't forget to consider the *freight charges* these two things will add. |

Re: Brothers (sale)
I wouldn't buy a repop bumper , they are crap. I have one on my suburban and if you are not careful it will slice your hand open when you are washing it , from all the sharp unfiled edges. The one on my truck is going to be changed. Also the chrome quality between the replated rear and the front is like night and day. I would definately spend the 300 to get a stock one replated. Also look on ebay, there is wood bed kits on there for 350ish , you don't get the stainless strips but I wouldn't trust those as repops either.Besides , Brothers isn't the best service or best place to do business. I have had numerous quality problems with there stuff and I won't even use them anymore.

Re: Brothers (sale)
Very Good information,
The oem bumper I have I would need to have a dent taken out. But the quality and lack of rust is impressive. |

Re: Brothers (sale)
I cant comment on the parts, but ordering from Brothers has been a pain with stuff backordered forever. Gave up and now go elsewhere.

Re: Brothers (sale)
i dont know about brothers ,but i bought a repop for my old 65 from lmc and they dont have the recess in the bumpers for the bolt heads, and if you over tighten them you will dipple or crease the bumper, when i got my new to me 66 it came with a stock style chromed bumper laying in the bed,i picked it up the other day to mock it up (since i dont have new chrome carriage bolts) to the front end and was amazed at how heavy it was compared to the repop....the repop i could balance in the palm of my hand(such thin metal),the stock one i struggled with two hands to hold it up to frame horns and put bolts in....theres no way a repop will stop anything its just for show......go stock rechrome!!

Re: Brothers (sale)
For my money it would be better top find a oem bumper if you can. I can say the same thing almost everything its back orderd. I have been dealing with them for the last two months with items that I have ordered and can't get because its been backed orderd. So I will only get things from them that they have on hand that I can't get anywhere else. Also I noticed that there sales aren't realy sales off you notice there catalog shows on most items a slightly higher price but the sales sheet shows 65% savings but if you do the math you will only save one or two dollars over the catalog. When I question the sales man about this he said he didn't know anything about the way the sale works. Do in short do your home work and look at all the companies that offer parts, compare shipping and then buy.you might find out that other companies offer a better deal.

Re: Brothers (sale)
I got this bumper at Truck and Car Shop in 1999 or 2000. I drove the truck for 4 years with no problems with the bumper and did do some rain driving. I don't know if they carry the same product but it is thinner then OEM stuff. Oh yeah.. I got the grill there also.

If ya wanna rechrome:
Advanced Plating www.advancedplating.com/ They provide a complete bumper restoration service. They straighten, repair dents/cracks and fill holes. They ask to (Help us out! Please mark or note any repairs you know are needed.) All bumpers are stripped down to the bare metal (sand blasted on the back), all repairs including straightening, realignment, dent and wave removal are then completed, the bumper is polished to a mirror finish and triple plated with copper, nickel, and chrome. They take great pride in your bumpers and provide you with the very best restoration service to finish your bumpers. Re: Brothers (sale)
I got the repro bumpers from Truck shop and they have a 5 year warranty. They look ok. Plating isn't what it used to be, at least in Ca. which is why I went with the repop. I still have the factory bumper so I can get it rechromed if I want to. The fit is ok, and there is some sanding marks in the steel that was chromed over but it's ok. If you get the rear bumper kit make sure the rear brackets are like OEM and not the bent bar stock. They don't seem to align to easy.
