Starter Wiring Blues..
I'm having problems getting my starter properly wired up. I have the small wire hooked up in the correct location But I have two other thick wires. One from the positive and another that has a red and red wire tied together as a terminal.
Help? I'm confused. I buy this new remanufactured starter to replace the dead one, now i'm having issues..

Re: Starter Wiring Blues..
Both the battery positive plus the other 2 red wires (these should be tied together at the end with an eye-hole connector, battery is seperate) should mount to the larger terminal on the solenoid.

Re: Starter Wiring Blues..
I had it like that. The large red one off the battery first then a nut then the two spliced into eachother on and the nut. And then when i tried hooking the battery up it kept sparking big time.

Re: Starter Wiring Blues..
That's odd. How are your grounds? Check the wiring going to the starter. Make sure there are not any open spots that could ground out.
When my other battery cables blew up, it was because the insulation had melted and they had grounded to the header. If there are no open spots or possible grounding conditions, then I can't help you. It will be beyond my knowledge. EDIT> I have never used a nut to separate the 2 wires on the larger terminal. Might try w/o the nut. You are connecting these to the same side of the solenoid as the smaller wire? There is a stud on the back of the solenoid is the reason I ask.

Re: Starter Wiring Blues..
Hmm, thanks man. I'll check tomorrow. Feel free to check out my build. These hooker headers run really hot.

Re: Starter Wiring Blues..
Yes they do. If you find that your starters are dying quickly, go get one of these -> http://www.jegs.com/i/Moroso/710/74300/10002/-1
It has helped tremendously. Starter will need to be removed in order to install other wise, you might find yourself welding the heat shield to the headers.
