Do you know what the LSA is? That cam sounds like it might have a little lope to it. I'm assuming that the 298 is the duration?

Wow,
If I'm reading that right, the exhaust opens 78 BEFORE BDC, and the intake CLOSES 78 AFTER BDC. That would give you 156 degrees of overlap!!! If I'm reading that right, this is one DOOSIE of a lumpy cam! The mild cams I'm looking at have about 35 degrees of overlap! Brian |

Tim, It sounds like 292 duration but that seems high for a lift of .448. Maybe it is a solid cam, I don't know. The idle Lumpiness is from the LSA that Randy mentioned. I believe most of the sound is from the duration under acceleration. What brand cam is this?

I'm guessing it's a solid lifter cam since it has lash adjustment specs. The cam lift is how much it lifts the lifter (.298"). Multiply that by your rocker ratio (stock SBC is 1.5) to get valve lift (.447")
duration at .050 lift and LSA would help out. |

It's an Iskenderian racing cam. These are the specs from the cam that is in the 283 I just bought for Shawnas 67 GMC project.

Cam has 32* of overlap at .050 lift( In. open-Ex close) And 248* of duration at .050 lift. Should be ok for your 283 with some "sound" to it.
