Cool thread, I had no idea this was even here. Just a couple weeks ago I had a sbc and th350 in my pickup bed along with an engine hoist, never even thought to take a picture. Next time I load her up I'll take a shot or two.

I had a long bed 66 and believe it or not loaded 2.2 tons of washed stone in it and made it home 15 miles. 12 bolt 4.11 axle camper special springs. It wouldn't stop but I did make it. Oh, and it was about 90 degrees that day and man was I sweating for more than one reason. The bucket loader guy dumped some in but I jestured "give be somemore" so he did...

I was told years later that even though it wasn't on the bump stops it would have been bending the axles which should have ruined my axle seals, but it didn't.

That truck is coming back into my life as my son is buying it to do a total rebuild. Cool!

Dragging another load of my "stuff" from storage to our new house.

I don't have pics, but in the one month I've owned her she's also done several Home Depot runs for the bathroom I'm remodeling and hauled about 2/3rd of the Norse Maple we had taken down up to a friend who burns wood all winter. The back was dragging on that trip.

Had to pick some taters today and used the 1964 to help haul them. Didnt think to take a picture till were were almost done but there was about 15-20 Five Gallon buckets worth in there when we started unloading them.

Mine is pretty much a firewood truck, and while I've had it overloaded more than once and it handled it admirably, I wouldn't want to go this far (this one isn't mine )>

When we were picking up the 66 in fresno, people were amazed that we'd fly from ohio to take a truck home. They don't realize that they're just not worth saving when you find them out here as work trucks. To them, the 60-66's are just old work trucks for broke guys, kind of like the beater 80's box bodies are to us in the great lakes states. When we were driving around town, we saw literally almost 10 of them as work trucks (60-66) in about a 5 block radius of where we got ours. Muffler shops, paint shops, parts stores, a ton of them! There was a 59ish CAMEO fleetside bed one, a million different colors, it was holding 55 gallon drums of paint, and it had the pumper hooked up inside the bed, and the guys were on a car dealership roof painting with the truck as the paint holder/pumper. It looked like it had been doing that job 50 years, couldn't even tell what the base color might have been. It's just crazy to me, being from ohio, to see so many of these, so clean, just being work trucks.

I missed my chance. We were hauling plywood and building supplies in the truck the other day, but I was so busy working on the wife's shed, it never occurred to me to stop and take pictures!

Looks like that orange chevy's rear tires are a bomb ready to go of any minute.
And by the way nice scrap iron trailer....something also tells me that its no coming back... Heres a picture of mine with a small load of compost.....not half the wait of 5 tractor bucket loads of dirt. eeeeeeeeck! I cringed as my tires absorbed the wait of the dirt, but as for the coils they held really well.

My 66 is a working truck. Here it is with a stainless steel troughs for a 20 ft wet wall for the 6th floor of a high rise in Austin.

I hauled 2-1/2 yards of mulch with my C-30 today, about 2,000lbs worth. My $2.81 sideboards came in real handy to hold it all. It seemed like a lot more when I shoveled it out than it did when it was loaded with a wheel loader, lol.

Edit: Also, I love the '65 C-30 from Calgary, nice truck.

This is not my truck but it did sell me on the ECE springs I've decided to go with on my truck. If whoever owns this truck is on here, I'd like to know what the drop springs are besides the 2 1/2" drop spindles. Some info on it, it's a '66 Fleetside, 283, PowerGlide PS, A/C, 244,000 miles (engine's never been opened, driven daily) Early Classic Disc Brake Conversion Kit, 2½" Drop Spindles, Drop Springs and Wheel Vintiques powder coated rally wheels.

This last week I started a project on my newly constructed home here in West Texas. Of which I had to have a front loader load a load of crushed limestone in the truck. Now I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that has restored a truck, only because it stripped the tailgate of paint in the process. But going into the quarry they weighed the truck on the scales, then I proceeded into the quarry where I waited in line with some dozen large dump trucks. After a slow process the gigantic front loader put a load of the crushed limestone in the truck, now it wasn't anywhere near filling up the bed, but it flattened out the truck a good deal.
Upon leaving I was surprised of what I didn't notice. Which was any unfavorable driving characteristics, in fact, heading back down the mountain to the scales it handled wonderfully. But not until I pulled to the scales was I thrown for a real surprise. Not wanting to completely bottom the truck out, we stopped loading just when it got level. Well that was only a couple of inches for the back to come down to be level with the front. But it was 1358 pounds of stone that did it. And it drove beautifully on the highway back to town. So much so that I decided to drop you guys a line and let you know how good a product you have.
I have attached a couple of photos of the truck, one is empty and the other is with 1358 pounds of crushed stone in the back. Note how little difference there is between the two.

Then, we got another letter from Sam, here it is...

Dear Mr. Clark,

Once again your spring design has been tested to the limit. And once again, it works flawlessly.
I thought when I sent you the picture of the 1358 lbs of crushed limestone in the back, that that would be more than I'd ever care to carry in this 33 year old truck. But... I just got back from hauling 1550 pounds of slate pavers and again, the springs did great. (Now if I can only do as good laying them...)
The truck is at it's max, but it drives and handles like there was nothing back there. The guys that loaded it with a forklift about choked when they came to load it and saw that is was going in a heavily lowered '66 Chevy Fleetside. I laughed and said that I had your springs and brakes on it and they couldn't believe when they set that pallet down and it simply leveled the back with the front.
I don't recommend doing this everyday or over rough roads, but I just wanted to let you know once again what a great product you have and how happy I am I chose Early Classic.
