Finally lifted my k5 today
I finally had time to install my lift on my 71 k5 today went with skyjacker soft ride leafs in front and reverse shackle from ORD and skyjacker nitro shocks. Will install crossover/high mount steering tomorrow and align front end. My question is do you normally have to have the front drive line extended? Here is a pic

Re: Finally lifted my k5 today
It's been my experience that 4 inch suspention lift you can get by "ok" with stock drive line.. But you won't know what ya got till ya hold it up in there. Best way to tell is to jack it up in the front and suport it by the frame "securely" So the front wheels are off the ground and the axle is just hanging by the springs. then climb under and see how far your driveline will extend to the yoke. if it don't touch one of the yokes while seated in the other, take the cap off the splined slide shaft and see if it will go further it may have some crusty old grease not letting it extend all the way. at that point see if the cap will go back on. At least at that point you should be able to tell better on how much more driveline you may need at minimal.. I would consult a drivline shop though for their recomendations on the correct play in the drivline spline slide.

Looks good! How much did it all cost you if you don't mind me asking. How much lift does the shackle flip give you?

Re: Finally lifted my k5 today
I spent $1600ish for front leafs bushings, shocks, u-bolts and tires. I spent around $800ish for crossover stuff and rear hangers. Been collecting stuff for a bit as I can afford it. Shackel flip is 4 inch lift and seams to ride better than stock but I did had worn out shocks. Going to wait a bit to do crossover/high mount stuff till i get a set of bigger axles prob next week will install all of it at once.

Re: Finally lifted my k5 today
Thanks for the compliments guys. Btw installed crossover/high mount steering tonight need to align it at work tomorrow. Also found a set of used crome molly shafts for $200 and put them in also. So all I have left now is front driveline before the snow gets here. Oh ya and also installed aftermarket heated seat kit yesterday for drivers and pass seats its amazing especially the price $74 delivered from ebay.

Let us know how those heated seat kits work! I'd like to get some for all of my old trucks.

Re: Finally lifted my k5 today
Most of the crossover steering is off road design. I bought the arms and machine work for the knucle from ebay company. I bought the heated seats from ebay also they have been really nice the last few days its been cold in the am.
