I wish... Travel for work to Colorado and California, which beats being home right now! I hear you on the cold winter - I just have a bad feeling that it will be a bruiser. How does that 6.2 do with cold starts? Good glow plugs?

It starts well, I haven't even plugged it in. I cycle the key a couple times and fire it up. It runs a bit then dies, so I cycle the key a couple more times and fire it up again the let it idle until its warm. I put a new glow plug controller in along with a new pair of wal-mart everstart MAXX batteries.

I need to fire up the Burb, it's been a few weeks....

I figured out a better cold start routine...
I turn the ignition key on and wait for the glow plug light to go off, then cycle ignition, tap the accelerator to engage the fast idle solenoid, and start it while the glow plug light is on. It fires right up even when the temp is below zero.

Where did you get the wheels from? Price? Love the truck! I wish we had some snow here! I'm thinking about doing 285's or 305's until I get the truck straightened out and do a four or six inch lift.

I think I got the last set.
They were @ $460 with free shipping for the set.
Amazon is the greatest!!

I want bigger tires, I was looking for some 315's
They are super spendy though.

I don't think 315's will clear with out a lift. I had 305's on my 86 K20 and they just barely cleared. Actually, after messing around on some snowbanks and shifting the rotty ass body around on the frame one did rub at full left lock.

I have 285's now with lots of room
315's, by the numbers, are only 1 7/8" taller and 1 3/16" wider.
This one ton sets higher than 3/4 tons I have seen.
It sits higher on these 285's than my K20 Burb on 35's.

I really like the shoe box 4 doors would like to get a dually 4X4 but the wife says 3 vehicle's are enough for me.
Been reading your thread I fell in love with Alaska when visited my son in Eagle River he was stationed at Elmandorf AFB. The Mountains and Glaciers are unbelievable and it was pretty wild seeing Moose in the middle of Anchorage.


I was wondering if Wal-Mart batteries are different up there than in the lower 48. I bought the same batteries because of the 3 year replacement warranty but I have had 4 go bad in the in the last in the last 4 years between 3 vehicle's and got a refund for the one in my plow truck and bought a NAPA one. I'm just saying because I know it is life and and death out there in the winter and wouldn't want to see anything happen.

The lower 48 needs some of your snow my truck fund is dwindling.
