Welded up hole- gas tank or what??

What is up with the hole welded up on the inside of the passenger side bedside. It is right where a second gas tank filler would go. Do all blazers have this?? Mine looks like the exterior of the bedside was never cut, but the interior of the thing looks patched. I have heard from other guys that their blazer has the same thing...Any info???? I will try to take a pic tomorrow.

It isn't where the antenna setup goes cause I have a hole on the driver's rear bedside for that. Maybe I need to explain better, ---a picture is worth a thousand words. Anyone else have this welded up hole on the exact opposite bedside from the gas filler??

I never looked under there. I would have to pull the interior trim panel. But it looks like a hole for another gas filler neck. Maybe on export (rt hand dr) models or auxilliary tank options?

Frenchblue72- I think you are right. I just wondered if anyone else had these holes. The two blazers I have both have them. Anyone else?

I don't remember seeing anything like that on my '69. Do you think someone was going to install a gas tank and then changed their mind? Maybe even the dealer?

I looked at mine last night. I don't have that. Someone must have started something and changed their mind.

Maybe my blazer had the stock auxially tanks on each side, but someone changed that along the way. Would that be listed in the glove compartment?

It could've had a buggy whip at one time. Or its the result of the CB radio popularity in the 70's
