front only bag question
i am thinking i am just going to put bags in right away since i have them laying around when i do brakes and drop spindles. i want to just have them on a schradder valve for now....
i have 1/2 lines and i need to know which fittings i should use and such.... Last edited by northeimcustom; 01-03-2012 at 04:55 PM. |

Re: front only bag question
Nothing special for this really...just a 90 elbow off the bag so a line can go through the crossmember and to a location that's accessible where you schradder valve will be. Going from a 1/2" line to a schradder will just take some reducer/bushings.
I have 1/2" line in my blazer, and if I could do it all over again, I'd do 3/8...it's MUCH easier to route and the speed is nice...not too slow and not too fast.

Re: front only bag question
We make a front kit that includes bags, shocks, mounting bracketry and hardware. We can also supply you with the schrader system if needed. Shoot me a PM with your number and I will give you a call to further discuss.

Re: front only bag question
As mentioned its pretty simple to do. With that said, I do not recommend it for the front. If you have a slow leak it can make it inoperable if the front tires set on the fender liners. at a minimum get a tank with a manual ball valve so you have a back up supply.

Re: front only bag question
You run the air line and fittings out of the bag, but instead of using a valve and onboard compressor/tank set-up there is a schrader valve at the end of the line (similar to the old school air shocks). You can fill with a shop compressor... just not on the fly. We use the schrader set-up on the projects in the shop. Many guys will run them on their finished project, as you get the ride quality and adjustability/tuning that a bag offers without all the expense of an air management. Great option for a "semi-static drop".
Dloe's valves are a nice affordable set-up as well. Great option for an adjustable set-up while staying within the budget. Nate

Re: front only bag question
also, i used a cig lighter type compressor until i mounted my viair 380. i still need alot of stuff still. you can go to o'rielly's or carquest and find a schrader valve fitting for like 3 dollars. i think they are 1/8 inch so go to lowes or hd and get some fittings to get you back up to 1/2

Re: front only bag question
What's the difference between single port and dual port air bags? I'm trying to put together a front set up. What kind/size of valves do I need? How bout the compressor size? Best airline size?
Thanks in advance for any input! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: front only bag question
Stick with a single port...duals are for fast baggers that are trying to hop and not necessary unless you're doing that (plus you'll need different mounts and such). For the rest, it'd be best to start your own thread so you hijack the OP's

Re: front only bag question
It all depends on what you are looking for in your system. Dual port bags were a fad when everyone wanted to hop there truck.. They are not needed. The tank size, valve and airline size along with the # of compressors is up to you and how much you think you will play with your airride.

Re: front only bag question
Those SMC fittings are good, but not DOT approved. The elements and road heat make the plastic brittle and you will end up busting those. SMC makes DOT fittings that are all Black, you see them on Semi trucks. Get them at Fastenal.

Re: front only bag question
BuiltwithIvy, I'm not trying to bash on your ride but that doesn't look like the best spot for a manifold like that.
Even if you don't take DLOEs advice on those valves, you should at least move them, enclose them or make a skid plate to protect them. Might be the angle of the shot but the bottom valves look like they are begging to be knocked off by a piece of road debris.
