Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

how did your other truck ride with that flip kit and spindles? im thinking about lowering my 80 gmc but the streets are a lil rough here, i have a 3/4 in my 67 and it rides decent but it also has trailing arms not leafs

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

It rode pretty good. Mine only had like 3 1/2 in clearance between the frame in the back and the axle so on big dips and bumps i would slow down because it would bottom out in the back...but it rode nice...I loved it that low....just wanted lower!

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

cant wait to see more, the old truck was looking pretty good, should of just put your own 2 link and air bags on that one, since you had all the body work done, but this truck looks like itll be a fun build as well keep the pics coming

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

if the 98 engine is a vortec, which it should be if its really a 98, then I wouldn't use it. at least not the vortec fuel injection anyways. If you have the vortec heads then I would use them because there great heads. you could use either block, but the vortec block has a crank censor and if you don't use the vortec fuel injection then you won't need it so if you don't use the vortec injection then i wouldn't use the block either, just the heads.

the new pickup also looks good. I like the shaved doors and fenders. some one piece windows would look good in there.

Yea that sounds good. I don't know q lot about engines I was planning on using the older motor and putting a cam in it...so u say the heads on the other engine would be good to use on the 84 350?

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

So today i kinda moved the truck around the truck a little bit. I took some pictures of some more stuff . Some engine shots and Ill show you how we move trucks around when it's needed. I also let the locks out of the back so it would set down and threw a fender on it for a preview....Heres a little teaser.

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

Today I took the 2 engines I have and took the heads and intakes off...the vortex heads were very clean which are the ones im going to use one the older 350 block. I also have to do away with the intake and get one that fits up with the vortec heads I foumd one on crqigslist for like 170 I think im gonna go with. So i matched the heads ok the block to see if everything fit. I'm also gonna clean everything up and paint. I think I'm gonna do a black or dark grey on the block and red heads. With some new vavle covers since the ones i took off are bolts on the outside and i need center bolt covers for the vortex heads....those are my plans. Hope to have some updates next weekend with some fresh paint.

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

Ok big question....should i try and use the 350 with vortec heads or i have a new iption. i have a whole 2000 Chevy with a 350 in it and all wires and trans. Would that be a better option? It has 200??? Something thousand miles on it but ran. Any suggestions? My dad thinks i shouod use it? And if i bored it out would it help it out in a newer sense? Thanks for the help.

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

So here is the donor truck. It is my grandpas and it went through the tornado back in last May. But I started the engine up a week after it happened and it still ran. Can anyone tell me what all is required to do this engine and trans swap? Thanks everyone!

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

lol...GO FOR IT!....just save everything thats connected to the motor and tranny...you can save the wiring harness and rework it, but for $500 you can buy a new stand alone one...since the donor doesn't look like its goin anywhere, keep it around till your done the swap..just in case....

Re: My 85 chevy c10 build

What up Curt? im liking the truck bro and it looks like most of the work is pretty much done unless you're thinking about redoing everything but based on the pics you posted it looks good it just needs little work here and there but that's part of having a project bro, supplying the air is probably the easiest thing now get to work on it lol...
