Sent this message to the seller..

1987 was the first year for TBI. Big red flag for such an "original" truck with a steep price tag.

Re: 1986 w/ 295 miles

That puppy's carbureted.

Couple dead give aways: 1. No fuel pump relay mounted to firewall. 2. Deceleration Valve just in front of air cleaner (brass colored vacuum operated valve) 3. Air cleaner housing assy (mid 80's carb models take the tall A753C delco filter whereas a TBI unit takes the A348C short filter) Also TBI air cleaner housing has a different snout, different snout to core support hose and no stove pipe valve along with a shorter cover due to the shorter filter. 4. EFE (early fuel evaporation) valve on pass. side exhaust manifold at the collector. TBI units were not equipped with the EFE valve.

Seller should get their facts straight before listing a vehicle ESPECIALLY for that outrageous price!

What a joke! $65K? Really? It is beautiful though, but people need to calm down with what they think things are worth.

I think the TV auctions have a lot to so with that since some billionaires see some car/truck they want and moneys no object they pay a high dollar then every one thinks hey if that one sold for $xxxxx then mine should too

Re: 1986 w/ 295 miles

Here is what I got for a reply...funniest thing ever!

The engine of the Silverado boasts a 4.3L V8 with up to 200 horsepower. The four-speed transmission comes standard as an automatic. Two-wheel drive is standard, with a four-wheel drive option. Power steering, power brakes, and cruise control are standard. The throttle body fuel injection is a new addition for the 1986 model. The standard version uses unleaded regular fuel, with a diesel fuel option available. The engine itself is a dual overhead camshaft made of cast iron with aluminum cylinder heads

I'm sorry, but that's not right.

We've had this conversation before, and - trust me on this - 1987 was the first model year for TBI for the C/K/R/V series (TBI in 1986 for M Van). It was a huge deal for us in Engineering. It was originally scheduled for the GMT400 trucks but we wanted to pull it ahead one year (not two years) to limit our exposure and for more field history before launching the new truck.

My personal recollection was 1987, so I called FIVE different GM Powertrain employees, including the guys that did the development work and calibration for the TBI trucks. To a man they all came back and said 1987 was the first year for TBI.

If there are TBI trucks in 1986 then they don't have any software in the ECMs, because I asked the guys who wrote the programs and they didn't release it until 1987....

Re: 1986 w/ 295 miles

As a parting shot, here is the Truck Information book for 1986, from the GM Heritage Center archives.

Powertrain charts start on page 18, showing a single 4 barrel carb;

http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...olet-Truck.pdf

and the 1987 information book, touting the introduction of fuel injection:

http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...olet-Truck.pdf

(It also mentions the demise of the L6, which was mentioned in a previous discussion).

The powertrain charts shown here are the same ones we use to release the parts to the assembly plant.

I have a value of 30,000.00 for insurance purposes..

Re: 1986 w/ 295 miles

I forgot back then you used to see 4x4's with tiny little white wall tires. I hated that.

That truck might be worth 65k if it doesnt get any more miles on it for another 30-40 years.
