cowl hoods

What are y'alls opinions on them, I'm going with the 89 burb core support and headlights can't decide if I wanna spend the money on a 2" cowl or spend the time and fix my stock hood. Input appreciated!!! Thanks, Aaron

Re: cowl hoods

Small cowl's like 2" or less look good, but 4" ones look stupid unless it's on a drag truck/car.

Re: cowl hoods

Same as the others, I like the look of the 2" cowlīs. And I want one for my truck, but I donīt think I will put one on unless I get a proper engine under it, the asthmatic 305 I have donīt deserve to live under anything more than the stock hood

Re: cowl hoods

I dig the flat hoods on the round light trucks and the 2" cowls on the later trucks. I have one on my '87. From classic industries. I'm really happy with the fit. Heck even installed t by myself!

Re: cowl hoods

I'm not into mods but I do like the look of the small cowl hoods on the '81 & newer model trucks. Here's my '86 C10 with 2" cowl. It does really make the truck look nice.

Re: cowl hoods

I have a 2" on mine, and I love it. It's a Goodmark steel hood, and it fit flawlessly. I haven't had a single problem with mine. I recommend it to anyone.

There's a similar one on my buddy's '96. His looks tiny and his is up 6" on 35's

Re: cowl hoods

I'd rather have a ram air hood myself. In fact I'm going to be building one this summer using the remains of an old 72 Olds 442 hoodand a stock steel hood for my burb.

Re: cowl hoods

Hey... Donīt pick on the white Rangers! Had one last winter and it served well. Never had to care about washing or caring for it. Got me to work every morning and home in the evening and it was a diesel. Bought it for 200 bucks and when spring came I drove it straight to the scrapper turned off the ignition and collected 150$ on my way out. Canīt ask much more of an old beater

As long as it's American, that's all that matters.

Like I said, to each his own. Hell, here in Southern California you see grown men driving Toyota Prius cars. This country is a democracy for now and if you insist on putting a 4" tall cowl on your cattle herding truck the cowl induction hood police will not stop you.

Re: cowl hoods

I like my 2" split cowl, I think cowl hoods generally look good on our trucks...but not all of them, I mean some squares just look better without...
