Re: 84 Blazer 6.2 Diesel???
I like mine. The power is good and the mileage excellent. I can't measure mpg because I need to replace the speedo cable but a fill up lasts way longer than it should. I don't have lift/33's on mine yet but I can't imagine this motor caring. Mine is a CUCV so it's got the TH400 transmission. If you're looking at a civvy version, the TH700R4 would be better on the hwy.

Re: 84 Blazer 6.2 Diesel???
Im a recent 6.2 diesel convert. I have a 84 3/4 ton suburban with a 6.2/700R4 combo
It gets great mileage with 35" tires, I haven't checked it to see exactly what it gets but I'm guessing close to 20mpg Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 84 Blazer 6.2 Diesel???
I get anywhere from 13-17 mpg in my 91 burb with a 6.2 and the banks sidewinder turbo on it. It has a 700r4 trans, a 6 inch lift, 4.56 gears, 37" bfg km2's, and it is running strong at over 200k miles.

Re: 84 Blazer 6.2 Diesel???
I'm a new fan of the 6.2L in my M1009/K5. If at some point you replace the Injector Pump, get the pump for the 160hp "J" code engine. The Blazers only came with the 130hp "C" code (except for military).

Re: 84 Blazer 6.2 Diesel???
so what will it take to get some more HP out of it. I have been pretty versed i the cummins and dmax world. So what HP upgrades will make the truck more powerful but noit breaking the internals

Re: 84 Blazer 6.2 Diesel???
J-code intake
Turbo Better flowing exhaust. In my Burb I advanced the IP a tiny bit, I could definitely feel a difference. You can also turn up the pump a bit (it's a required mod with a turbo) I'm told the 6.2 with banks turbo HP and torque are similar to a stock 12v cummins, I have no real world experience though... Re: 84 Blazer 6.2 Diesel???
I'd leave it stock for reliability. That's what these were built for and that's what they are. I had an '84 with the Banks Sidewinder kit and it was running fine when I sold it with nearly 200k on it. But,that was back before they decided to sell diesel for more than gas. It didn't feel a whole ot more powerful than n/a. I guess adding some power is ok,but don't try for a whole bunch. Also, why lose fuel economy? That's why I run them. My '91 Suburban with 4.10s and 4L80E could roll down the hiway at 75 mph all day and get 20-22 mpg with 35" tires. I feel the power is adequate with the 6.2. It moves along just fine.
