Swap to some 8" rallyes and you'll be set!

Damn man. That's just like my dad's old '65. He had just finished building it and he let his brother borrow it to show it off, and it caught fire under the hood, then moved to the cab. Fire department had to put it out. Next day my dad stripped it down and started back over. My dad said it was something he had screwed up on that caused the fire; he didn't make that mistake a second time.

Yup, mine started under the hood. 99% sure the float stuck in the carb & she was just pumping gas & burning for about 5 minutes and I had no idea. When I pulled over (because she was running rough) the hood buckled before I even got her stopped, that's how hot she was already burning. I hit it with 3 fire extinguishers within 2 minutes of pulling over; I might as well have been pissing on the eternal flame... The whole front clip & cab were burned, but the new GM box was saved.

Originally built by my Dad & Brother in late 90's early 00's. I bought the truck in summer of 11; dad & brother put new box sides on, and surprised me with a new paint job. Jan of 12 the float stuck in the carb and she burned... The truck is back in MI now and being re-built AGAIN by my Dad & Brother.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Hello All,

I've been lurking around on here for sometime now and wanted to introduce myself and my dad's '73 Cheyenne. We're at the start of trying to restore it so any vendor recommendations would be very appreciated. I've ordered some items from LMC so far.

Just purchased this from a friend about a week ago. It certainly needs work but mechanically this truck runs great. Aka Big Bird

I'll snap some more pics after we get it back from paint. My dad had it installed during one of our family road trips down to Mexico. It was pretty much a standard bumper for trucks down there because of random farm animals crossing the road.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?

Here's my 1981 Chevy K20 Scottsdale. Picked it up for 500 bucks.

When I first got it

After a little bit of work. New front calipers, pads, brake lines, and a coat of primer and 2 coats of paint on the wheels. Still needs rear brakes, and brake lines.

I'm in love with this '81. Can I have it? LOL

Honestly though, other than the obvious body cancer, she looks like a damn good and clean truck.

Thanks! It definitely needs some body panels, but it has 157,000 miles on it, has 2 year old gas in it, and leaks a lot of oil but I can just reach in the cab and turn the key and it fires right up! What surprised me was the shape the interior is in. Obviously there is a rip in the seat on the drivers side, but the dash looks brand new, and nothing is missing

It's going to be my daily driver to work for a while, and eventually I want to do a 6 inch lift with 35s. Or maybe just leave it like it is and replace the metal

74 Camper Special, 350/350 TH, NP203 Full Time 4X4, dual tanks. 8,200GVW. I Bought it three years ago for $300, it needed a flywheel, ignition switch and an exhaust valve. I love it!

Either way, I think it's a damn clean truck, and a damn good buy.

Any new updates since you've stripped it down to the frame?

I guess you know you can go to jail for this. Stealing a truck is a crime. Great buy.

Look do this next time: Right click the picture, press "Copy image location", come here and click this then paste, and post quick reply. Easy as that.
