1977 GMC "Sarge" spotted

Very, very interesting item noticed on ebay for you "special-edition" freaks...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=280722636451

This particular example isn't highly optioned, but it would still be a great addition to somebody's collection! With regard to previous owner(s), the truck was seemingly and thankfully appreciated, as it appears to be in such nice condition.

I imagine it would be next-to-impossible to locate correct replacements for those factory-included 8 lug aluminum wheels, and that steering wheel.

Be sure to click the "go here" link in the auction to see the additional pictures presented.

That's a very nice truck. If that's the original factory installed steering wheel and aluminum wheels, those are freakin AWESOME!

The only problem would be locating the matchng van and tractor to make a set.

appears to use a similar box rail to the Gentleman Jim trucks

Re: 1977 GMC "Sarge" spotted

I dont like those bedrails at all. truck itself is gorgeous, looks especially nice inside. I'd call that a spray-bomb resto underneath and under the hood. And I think it should probably have some kind of centercaps, shouldn't it?

I just saw a square the other day with crank windows and power locks, and I thought it was bizarre, now here's another one. Seems like if you're going to run wires into the door, might as well have put power windows in it.

Still a pretty truck, although I can't imagine finding a use for a 2wd 3/4 ton.

Thats a good looking truck. I actually bought a set of those wheels on ebay about 5 years ago. I thought they only came on the 76 GMC Indy pace trucks. I have never seen another set for sale. IIRC they are 16.5x8.25.

It 'Looks' like a nice rig......But it's misrepresented, There's a few inconsistency's between the pics and his claims. And we all know pics make something look better than it really is.

With so many people cloning older/SE vehicles these days, Hope the buyer ask for documentation from the general to prove his claims.....

I doubt very seriously its a clone. With that said, at a glance I noted that the motor is the wrong color. In 77 the SB was green not orange.

If it was truly a Sarge package, wouldn't it have the Sarge decal on the rear upper corners of the bedsides?

Re: 1977 GMC "Sarge" spotted

The rear fender decal is in the literature, but not the actual pics of the truck. and the orange motor jumped right out at me.
To be totally honest, I wasnt 100% sure about the color, so I wanted to let someone else point it out first;>

Re: 1977 GMC "Sarge" spotted

And I thought the bumper with the rubber impact strips looked too new, however I think the truck in the GMC literature has it too. I noticed it has no CB antenna, no rear cab strip, and the mirrors are different. I'm starting to lean towards it being a very nice Sierra Grande c20 that someone painted or had vinyl stripes made to approximate the Sarge package.

Re: 1977 GMC "Sarge" spotted

He did post the spid ....and I think it is originally a "Sarge" truck

Motor color is an issue ...but the motor has been repainted

As mentioned before ...it is always good to have someone look at it before buying
