Need engine setback recommendations.
Does anyone know what the engine setback would work best for a pro touring/road course 68 c-10. I made the front suspension, coilover rack and pinion setup designed after the Jim Meyers racing front bolt on kit.
I have the motor (sbc) in there now ready to build the motor mounts and the #1 sparkplug is about 1-1/2 inches in front of the top balljoint.Cant go back anymore without making a new firewall. Is that far enough back ? |

Re: Need engine setback recommendations.
the farther the better. Also, the lower the better. Set the oil pan / trans even with or just below the bottom of the frame rail, but keep it safe. Dropping the eng/trans may help you move it back some more. GoodGuys, ASCS, and Truckin Shootout have no rules on this, so it's up to you. The distributer is the stumble point on this set up, IMHO. Make sure you can get it out for service.
