Changing Throttle Body's

I bought a 2004 5.3 with a DBW throttle body, can I change out the throttle body to a cable throttle body or do I need a new intake too?

Should be a direct swap onto your intake. Minor re-wire and PCM programming will be required as well...

I had a cable intake and a drive by wire intake and the vacuum line that was behind the throttle body was different. I am unsure of the year model on the intakes I have though

Besides the rewiring and PCM tune changes already mentioned, you will probably find the threaded inserts where the throttle cable bracket bolts on, wont be there, just empty places where the inserts go.

Thanks for the advice,this is all new worlds for me! I'm looking forward to getting this in my S10 it should be a better DD than the 327 I had in it.

I did the same thing and instead of trying to find inserts or a new intake I just epoxied some bolts(head down) in the empty holes. I had to round off the the bolt head but I kept it as a snug fit and then put some epoxy in the hole, put the bolt in the holes and then some more epoxy around it to keep it steady. It holds pretty good and the bolts are hidden by the engine cover any way.
