Question for Rochester 4GC experts.
I was putting a kit in the 4GC on my '62 283 and I can't remember if the smaller jets (47's) were on the primary side or the secondary side. The other jets are 53's. Also is there a torsion spring on both floats or just the secondary floats? Thanks in advance for you erudite advice.

smaller jets in the front. Sorry, can't remember about the spring. If I only had one I'd put it on the secondary.

Another quetion for Rochester 4GC experts.
Thanks Nordic and tmoble for the tips. The diagram showed me that I missed the check ball under the accelerator pump. Next issue is I don't get a pump shot until about half throttle leaving me with an off idle stumble until I dip into the gas more.

Re: Question for Rochester 4GC experts.
is there a little check valve under the accelerator pump squirter? usually there is.
Is the linkage that operates the pump working OK? it should be pushing the pump stem down immediately as you work the throttle linkage by hand. Look carefully at the pics, usually there's a spring with it's keeper on the pump stem, the spring is what actually pushes the plunger cup down. If it's missing the pump won't work. there's usually also a return spring under the pump. Sometimes these two springs get switched. The stronger spring goes on the pump, the softer one under the pump to return it to top. if these are reversed the pump won't work. Yeah, I've worked on a few carbs over the years..... |
