Is this a good deal?
Im looking around for an ls for my project...i found a 5.3 chevy vortec motor from 04 tahoe with tranny and wire harness for 1300. pending the milage (which im waiting to hear back on) is this a good deal/good year motor to buy?

If its complete and the mileage is decent, then id say its a good deal.

if the mileage is decent and it has everything you need (if its dbw, get the pedal and tac, and try to get the ecm) then its not bad.

the guy isnt getting back to me on mileage..i assume they must be high....any idea what mileage to say clear of for that price?? also (sorry for so many questions) what about a complete 2002 camero ls1 with 4l60 with 67000 miles for 3800?

I see you are in OC, I am in Corona. I am going to pick up mine from a salvage yard in LA tomorrow, but it is a full swap, 07 L59 with 4L60, harness, all acc, pcm, pedal, tac module, maf and exhaust manifolds with 58kmi for 2200, so the 1300 is a good deal in my eyes if the mileage is low.
I've am just starting out with mine, but have been researching and seen these motors go well over 150k with no major issues, so it al depends on what you think is high mileage. If the price sounds good, compressions is good on a test you and you are ok with the mileage, I say go for it. Where were you looking for the engines? |

...over 150k.....try over 250k. '00 5.3 ext. Silverado and there's plenty of others.
ran better then new and still didn't use oil when he finally bought a new truck.
