Re: thinking about getting a 07+ silverado/sierra
I say go for it. I do like these trucks (sierra's better) They get around 20 mpg but I think the new hybrid? model's are getting 23 highway and the newer '09 models and up have 6 speed trannys compared to the 4 speed '07/08.
Are you thinking about a new or used one?

Re: thinking about getting a 07+ silverado/sierra
I have a crew 4x4 5.3 6 speed and get 15. However I have mud tires, a leveling kit, and drive it like its a rental. I have gotten 18 out of it before. Just be sure to find one with a 6 speed.

If your only objective is to gain mpg, then don't waste your time. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the truck you are considering but you will not make any mpg gains. I will totally disagree with ChevyTruckGuy on the "They get around 20 mpg" comment. I have had owned several trucks of this era and the best I see is 17 mpg average on a 2wd CC. You are not going to see better than that from a 4wd CC.

Re: thinking about getting a 07+ silverado/sierra
Agreed with n2trux, I barely manage 15. If you want mpg, I suggest a honda civic. Im dissapointed that after so many years and technology advances that my truck doesn't get 25 mpg. My 84 would get 13 all day long with a carbed small block.
