Home made notch on my 73
Today was a great day. Iam humbled by my friends and my 15 year old son. Ive been dealing with a back injury and just cant do what I used to at this present time. So a couple of my buddys came over and we removed the bed and got a c-notch installed on my 73 shortbed. Best part of the day was watching my son use a plasma and my mig welder for the 1st time. He was jazzed and felt more important to be apart of this truck. Its by no meens a show truck, just a regular every day hauler. The notch I wanted was to be super strong as I intend to tow with it. We used 1/4" metal. Its solid.

LOL. The close up weld on the outside isnt his weld. He welded some of the inside.

Re: Home made notch on my 73
tazman, I appreciate your concern. The tank was completely drained and flushed out before i reinstalled it. Wasnt any gas or fumes. But ya in any other circumstance the tank should be covered.
